Flock brings a new paradigm to interacting with the web. Uniting the fundamental approaches of building in new features and allowing others to build whatever features they want, the Flock team designs with the idea that the web, for many users, has become an indispensable social platform. We share our photos on Flickr, we microblog, share links, and let people know what we're up to on Twitter and Facebook. We watch a new breed of videographer unleash creativity on YouTube, we find interestingness at social news sites, and we blog it all to our personal sites to help our friends, family, and fans keep up on what's new. Flock incorporates a broad set of features for both watching what happens at these sites and creating content for them.

As you add your credentials for each of Flock's supported communities, notifications of your friends' activities appear in linear fashion in an all-encompassing People sidebar. This becomes a centralized panel for not only viewing what your friends are up to across all these services, but also an integrated tool for interacting with them at these services. An "action" button on each notification from a friend, regardless of the service, offers service-specific options for, say, sending a "shout" to a friend on Digg or "nudging" someone on Twitter who hasn't updated in a while.

Flock also offers a photo uploader for its supported photo sharing sites which include Flickr, Photobucket, Picasa, and Piczo. You can drag and drop images from your computer's file system, then add basic metadata like titles, descriptions, and tags as you send your photos into the cloud.

Pluses: You can create custom emoticons by selecting an image on your computer which will be automatically resized. Now, you can send messages to offline contacts so that they will receive them as soon as they log in, but this feature need to be improved.

Other exciting features of Microsoft Live Messenger are the Whiteboard, Remote Assistance and Application Sharing. These features, only available with Microsoft Live Messenger give chatters the opportunity to share data or be part in a remote assistance session with partial all complete control of the target workstation.

Drawbacks / flaws: In case you receive a file, it will be saved in the default directory instead of prompting you to choose the location yourself. Of course, the received files directory can be chosen from the options menu. The Web Calling service is available for long distance calls to only a few countries, but the list is growing. The offline messages feature is not working at all; so far, after signing in, I didn't receive any offline messages.

Yahoo! Messenger is a fully featured online communication tool. Its setup integrates the Yahoo! Toolbar which provides anti-spy, pop-up blocker, and quick access to other Yahoo! services (mail, photos, search, etc). With Yahoo! Messenger you can send instant messages, call computers, call a phone number, send a mobile message, or sign in to Yahoo! Mail.

[b]Pluses: On first run, Yahoo! Messenger will look in your Yahoo! Address Book and Microsoft Outlook for new contacts or for people who are using Messenger but are not in your list of contacts. This is done in order to complete your contact list.

The good news is that you can now add any Windows Live Messenger user to your contact list. After installing Yahoo! Messenger, simply click on the link "IM with Windows Live (MSN) Messenger", follow the instructions, and you'll be able to chat with Windows Live Messenger users.

Several extra plugins and features are provided. LAUNCHcast radio comes with lots of online radio stations to choose from. You can select a favourite radio station as "My Station". Yahoo! Games enables you to play Chess, Pool, Backgammon, Word Racer, or other games with your friends, while at the same time talking to them. Yahoo 360 blogging community is a way to keep connected with friends and family using blogs, pictures, and more.

One of the best known instant messengers worldwide, Microsoft's MSN Messenger comes with a complete set of options such as direct links to your e-mail Inbox, MSN home page, and address book.

MSN Messenger includes video and voice conversation options as well as animated winks, shared search, photo swap between you and your friends or a personal music message which displays the track you are listening to while communicating with friends.

There is also a range of funny online games that can be played by two or more peers. Some exciting features of MSN Messenger are the Whiteboard, Remote Assistance and Application Sharing.
