Sex Appeal: Six Ethical Principles for the 21st CenturyPublisher: Oxford University Press | 2010 | PDF | 160 pages | ISBN: 0195393899 | 6.2Mb UCLA psychology professor and sex authority Abramson (Romance in the Ivory Tower) offers six tenets for a healthy attitude towards sexuality in this well-written but unsurprising treatise. Though the book clocks in at a slim 160 pages, it feels much longer, as Abramson covers well-trod territory regarding sexual harassment, preventing childhood sexual abuse, the perils of sexually-transmitted diseases, and causes for marital happiness and discord. It also doesn't help that his six principles-do no harm, celebrate sex, be careful, know yourself, speak up and speak out, and throw no stones-can, admittedly, be boiled down to three: know thyself, respect others, and enjoy the ride. Abramson's arguments for honesty in relationships and the value of self-knowledge are unassailable, and backed up with occasionally absorbing anecdotes (for instance, a brief look at masculinity in the Sambia tribe of New Guinea), but anyone interested enough to purchase this classroom lecture in book form probably won't learn anything new.

Classic Guitar Construction 2007 | 100 pages | ISBN: 0933224141 | PDF | 8 Mb Classic Guitar Construction takes you step by step through the construction of a fine classic guitar. The book contains complete plans for an instrument, although the information is scattered and the body is shown half scale. Sloane uses very few power tools, explaining how to make and use the special jigs and tools you will need. The author describes wood selection, choice of adhesives, and finishing methods. The relatively low price makes this an easy choice for anyone wanting to build classic guitars or study their construction.
Surfing Through Hyperspace: Understanding Higher Universes in Six Easy LessonsPublisher: Oxford University Press | 2001 | PDF | 272 pages | ISBN: 0195142411 | 15.4Mb Like a number of his other books, Surfing is structured as a fiction, in this case an X-Files romance--Pickover clearly has a deep and personal appreciation for Scully (whom he calls "Sally," presumably on advice of counsel). You, dear reader, are the FBI's chief investigator of four-dimensional phenomena. As you and your cohorts chase bizarre manifestations from "upsilon" (4-D up) and "delta" (4-D down), Pickover provides explanations, paradoxes, and problems, with many helpful drawings and computer-generated illustrations.
