Signs & Symbols, a collection of over 1,300 images, covers many of the important uses of this universal language, from the heraldry and property marks of the past to the very modern world of health, travel and safety (and, perhaps most importantly, the washing instructions in your clothing). The wide-ranging collection contains all the usual suspects, such as the arrow, the cross, the star and the crescent, but also lesser-known examples such as symbols devised by the Akan people from West Africa and a number of Japanese coats of arms.
