I totally agree with you.. though in case that you're using public compie case or another compie where JRE hadn't been installed it's handy to have it in your portable device..

I think it's not a Trojan, it might have been detected as Trojan because the way it work by gaining information about your system drivers..

CMIIW, but in my experience such error was caused because you don't have a proper version of .NET frameworks installed.

I hadn't d'loaded this file though, so IDK if it's need the latest Frameworks or not..

Is it Thinstall-ed???
cos I hate portables that comes by using Thinstall.. cos they still left some file in localdisc.. :)
