As of 19 January 2008 16:00 GMT, Rapidshare’s servers appear to be offline. There are rumors that Rapidshare has been shut down by the authorities after a court order, however, court records do not reveal any issued Rapidshare court order as of yet. Rapidshare technician Steven Gircham has commented on this issue - “There are rumors concerning attacks made on the Rapidshare.com servers. There are also rumors that Rapidshare has been shut down by a court order. These rumors are false. We would like to apologize to our users and inform them that no data has been lost. There have been some hardware issues as a result of high bandwidth and server overload. We are doing our very best to resolve the hardware issues, and users should expect uptime by midnight tonight (GMT)”

Update (3:45 PM): 20. January 2008 - Problems accessing RapidShare
Unfortunately, starting at 5 pm CET, one of our carriers experienced a severe technical problem with their hardware, causing a loss of 50 gigabit of bandwidth. Therefore RapidShare was unavailable for several hours. We already have taken steps to avoid this particular problem in the future.

lol thats funny.... but this is why theres always y we upload to other servers:) images of what people upload like me and other and also the creator of this website... we just incrypt files and only let those touch our stuff lol.... soo nope if it has come to past and they actually did shut down rapid it wouldnt be a big loss. it would just mean time to bring up the images of other servers lol... but they will never shut down rapid share or any other server:)

oooh and i seee Michael u took notice to mediafire lol awesome website i might add non of that time waiting like on the other servers lol :P

I tried login to RapidShare this morning and
then... What the heck?... RapidShare Down?

The first thought i had was that probabilly RS was down.
I tried so many ways to test if RS was really down or not

Then i sent RS an email asking what was this problem about
But they dind't answer my email... What a bastards.

The after an hour i check my host file just in case smile

But when i saw that RS.com was not there,
then i thought that rapidshare was really down.

But the problem was only for like 2 hours or something
I was able to enter any rapidshare link after two hours.

I think rapidshare is just testing to see how important RS
is for all the people that use rapidshare everyday lol

This happen with burger king too, they stop saling for one day
just to see how people react with no burgers for one day lol

No dout, people was acting like crazy asking why? but why? hehehe

OK guys, take it easy with rapidshare, by now rapidshare is making
more money than any website in the worls, including Google, just kidding.

There were several problems with the Level 3 backbone and Rapidshare was affected also.

Now it should work again without problems.
