One of the most obvious changes in the new CS4 applications is the user interface, and this change will also be carried over into the next version of Adobe’s Photoshop. This decision is described in detail by Adobe’s John Nack.

Nack describes how Adobe has been trying to make the interfaces on their apps more consistent and shows off a screenshot of the new Mac Photoshop “application frame”. This application frame contains both user interface elements as well as documents themselves. Despite expressing his own initial resistance, Nack explains the advantages to the consolidated window:

- It facilitates N-up (2-up, 3-up, etc.) document layouts that adapt as you adjust the interface. Think “live window tiling”–great for comparing, compositing, etc.
- It makes it easier to move the entire application and its contents, including from one monitor to another.
- It prevents documents from getting obscured by panels (palettes).
- It blocks out the contents of the desktop, minimizing visual clutter.

Photoshop users may take a while to move to the new 64-bit version of Photoshop CS4, but it's an important development; meanwhile, CS4 offers plenty of other significant upgrades to keep 32-bit users happy.
Photoshop now comes in both 32- and 64-bit Windows Vista versions. The 64-bit edition will allow PCs with lots of RAM to work on very large images with less hard-disk swapping (ideally, no swapping at all), thus speeding up operations. With the shrinking amount of RAM available to modern PCs (due to a 4GB limit on 32-bit Windows versions and those operating systems' increasing hunger for RAM), that's a significant update.

Adobe Photoshop CS4, the latest version of Adobe’s premier photo editing software, codenamed Stonehenge has been leaked to torrent sites. The date of compilation of this build is Nov 1st 2007, so there are chances that this could be a version sent out to testers. There is also rumor that this version will have only few fixes for Vista users. Here is an image of the new version running on Windows XP. There is no news on when this new version will be available

Extract on hard disk or USB key and run PhotoshopPortable.
If you drag'n drop a file on (or open with) PhotoshopPortable: it will be opened in Photoshop.
Settings of installed Photoshop should be preserved.
