While a majority of trading systems incorporate only existing or past pricing activity into their simulations, the most successful ones use forecasting methods to establish future activity. Now, Ed Gately, a leading computerized trading systems developer, creates a groundbreaking approach to forecasting that includes setting price and time targets to anticipate future price movements—an essential step in reducing risk, increasing reaction time, and yielding greater returns. With detailed coverage of such important targeting techniques as Fibonacci numbers, Fibonacci ratios, and cycle analysis, as well as support/resistance, moving average and Raff channels, Bollinger bands, and trendlines, Forecasting Profits Using Price & Time enables you to integrate today's most accurate computerized forecasting models into your current system. Once in place, these techniques can be combined to obtain confirmation, thereby strengthening reliability. These key concepts for maximizing profits over short periods of time include: * Forecasting price movements of securities by using technical analysis. * Setting risk objectives and establishing stop loss levels. * Confirming change of trend with moving averages, candlesticks, and other methods of plotting price movement. * Using Fibonacci, Gann's, Carolan's, and other number series to target future prices and establish timing of future changes in trend. Detailed charts and graphs, as well as helpful models that can be used to test individual systems before engaging in actual trades, make this an indispensable resource for learning how to forecast accurately—and successfully. |

If someone told you they had uncovered a 300 year old secret that had the potential to bring great wealth, would you listen? If this, then, could explain the mysteries behind the secret so that you could profit as well, would you be interested? For those of you who are involved in the stock market, technical analysis can be somewhat of a mystery. You research and study, yet your trades just don’t end up being very successful. All you need to know is how to recognize the easily-seen signals the Japanese Candlesticks create. A candlestick chart is a style of bar-chart used primarily to describe price movements of an equity over time. It is a combination of a line-chart and a bar-chart, in that each bar represents the range of price movement over a given time interval. It is most often used in technical analysis of equity and currency price patterns. They appear superficially similar to error bars, but are unrelated. Candlestick charts are said to have been developed in the 18th century by legendary Japanese rice trader Homma Munehisa. The charts gave Homma and others an overview of open, high, low, and close market prices over a certain period. This style of charting is very popular due to the level of ease in reading and understanding the graphs. Since the 17th century, there has been a lot of effort to relate chart patterns to the likely future behavior of a market. This method of charting prices proved to be particularly interesting, due to the ability to display five data points instead of one. The Japanese rice traders also found that the resulting charts would provide a fairly reliable tool to predict future demand. |

Known internationally as `` The Father of Candlesticks,'' Nison reveals more Japanese charting methods which have never been published or used in the Western world. Describes kagi, renko and three-line break charts. Provides a brief review of candlesticks and previously unavailable candlestick patterns that can be used in equities, fixed-income, foreign exchange and overseas markets. If you already own "Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques" by the same author, then this is going to be alot of review for you. Most of the book is just much of the same information contained in aforementioned. Unless you are seeking a heavy dose of more of the same, no need to purchase this one, stick to the first book, which should serve you well as a reference. From the "Father of Candlesticks"—penetrating new Japanese techniques for forecasting and tracking market prices and improving market timing Steve Nison has done it again. The man who revolutionized technical analysis by introducing Japanese candlestick charting techniques to Western traders is back—this time with a quartet of powerful Japanese techniques never before published or used in the West. |

Great book, great content. This is not a book about theory and history of candlestick charts. He doesn't waste your time telling you what he thinks. Instead, this book gives specific results of candle patterns based on back-testing done by the author. He clearly defines each pattern discussed and then % of likelyhood of a reversal, continuation, and so forth. This is the kind of information that can be applied to your trading system to improve your profits. One great difference is that this book is easier to use. It has a standardized format for all the patterns with Commentary, Rules, Psychology Behind the Pattern, Flexibility, Pattern Breakdown, Related Patterns, Examples. This is VERY GOOD. It's only search the pattern and read what you want to know. It has a table with a resume about the pattern too. You will know all about candlesticks. And this book is easier to use and to consult. And what's more? This book has an in depth review of Candlesticks, patterns and practical application to Technical Analysis for Investors than Steve Nison's book. With this book you will discover candlestick charting, one of the most popular tools in technical analysis. Candlestick Charting Explained features updated charts and analysis as well as new material on integrating Western charting analysis with Japanese candlestick analysis, grouping candlesticks into families, detecting and avoiding false signals, and more. |

This is clearly one of the best investment books ever written…a distinguished effort of research, analysis, and translation… not only complete and informative, but also enjoyable to read. Steve has done a good job of relating, and clearly illustrating, the way in which the Japanese candlestick charting techniques fit in with and complement traditional Western technical tools… this book has become the standard text on the subject. An exciting and valuable addition to the literature of technical analysis… this ancient Japanese technique is available to American traders in a comprehensive, well-written, and understandable format. It’s hard not to be too effusive about the quality of Nison’s work, this strongly recommended book, which has already become an investment classic. The candlestick charts and charting techniques provided by Nison have become an important tool for our international securities market making. They provide a wealth of information and are instrumental for our daily operations. The charting technique is valuable for the individual or professional investor. Completely informative and global in its outlook, Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, Second Edition provides an in-depth explanation of candlestick plotting and analysis. This exciting book exposes the reader to the practical applications Steve Nison gained from years of study and research in this now popular and dynamic area. Today, almost all charting packages include candle charts. |

Steve Nison revolutionized the world of technical analysis when his two bestselling books introduced Japanese candlestick charting techniques to the western world. "Candles," he discovered, can signal shifts in trends and price patterns with amazing accuracy, and these "storyteller" charts also contain powerful applications for today’s volatile short-term markets. In The Candlestick Course, Nison breaks new ground once again. Plus, each end-of-chapter quiz allows readers to perfect their charting abilities before moving on. This book is the ideal training tool for newcomers, and perfect for veterans looking to refine and hone their skills. Focused on the needs of today’s active traders and investors, Nison: * Provides a solid foundation to candlestick charts–reinforcing key skills as you go * Reveals how to pinpoint critical market opportunities as they arise, by recognizing key candle signals * Tests your ability to accurately analyze and interpret candle charts * Demonstrates how candlestick concepts can trigger potent decision-support tools that can confirm–or enhance–buy/sell signals * Includes a valuable "progressive charting" case study * Ties all the aspects of candlesticks together through interactive examples and visual tests. |

Unlock the secrets of an ancient charting tool, "A superb exposition of Japanese Candlesticks: the oldest method of technical analysis developed more than 400 years ago. The book offers a thorough review and evaluation of this increasingly popular method of market analysis. A great source of information both for an experienced trader and a novice in this field." The most ancient form of charting, the Japanese candlestick method has become an extremely popular analytical tool among the new generation of traders. However, because of the aura of mysticism surrounding candlesticks and the arcane terminology typically used to describe them, many traders in the West never really learn how to use them properly and exploit their full potential. Profitable Candlestick Trading demystifies candlesticks for today's traders. With the help of numerous real-world examples, Bigalow clearly explains how candlesticks work, how to read them, and how to maximize profits with them. Bigalow shares some of his original candlestick-based trading programs, the same programs which have yielded impressive results for his clients at leading financial firms in the United States and abroad. |
