The first summer blockbuster of the year, X-Men 2 receives its world release on May 1st in an effort to strike the first blow against the Matrix Reloaded and The Hulk as the defining "event picture" of 2003.

The franchise has moved on and expanded from the highly introductory first film, which seemed to take so long presenting all the characters, conflicts and special characteristics that there was little time left for anything other than exposition and backstory. Here in the second instalment new mutants are sprinkled into the mix, existing X-Men are seen to mature and grow (particularly the adolescent pupils of Dr X's Academy) loyalties are shifted and the mood darkens considerably.

November 18, 2008 - The original Dynasty Warriors 6 hit the PS3 and 360 early this year and now Koei's button-mashing extravaganza is making its way to the PC. This new version offers all the content from the current-gen console release but oddly lacks all the new content from the recently released PS2 version. To me, the entire game feels like a step backwards, despite the extra nine months of porting. The PC version not only looks atrocious but just doesn't feel satisfying. As has been the case for years, the Dynasty Warriors games aren't fun any more and any positives that can be found in the experience are lost in a sea of overwhelming issues.

If you're incredibly late to the party, Dynasty Warriors 6 yet again follows the exploits of ancient Chinese warriors of legend in the time of the Three Kingdoms. Names and places are thrown around flippantly in the game's Musou mode, the main source of "narrative" and the game type you'll be spending most of your time in. Dynasty Warriors 6 also has a Free mode which lets you revisit previously beaten scenarios, and special Challenges that are set in the same gameplay mechanics but task you with different goals, like speed running through an environment or destroying environmental objects. These Challenges are a joke, honestly, but I'll touch on that later.

Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is an upcoming superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Wolverine. The film is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Hugh Jackman as the title character. It is a prequel to the X-Men film trilogy, focusing on the mutant Wolverine and his time with Team X, before Wolverine’s skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium. The film tells the story of the origins of Lucian (Michael Sheen), who was the first werewolf able to take human form - to be called Lycans. Viktor (Bill Nighy), the ruthless elder of the vampires, took him home after killing his werewolf mother in a raid. Viktor envisions a race of werewolf slaves for his vampire clan that, conceivably, could keep guard during the daytime hours and toil for the vampires. As Lucian grows up at Viktor's home, his young daughter, Sonja (Rhona Mitra), develops an attraction to the young Lycan, and Lucian becomes fond of Sonja as well.

It is revealed that Viktor has a tacit relationship with the human population of the area, whereupon he agreed to protect them from the wild werewolves that roam the countryside in exchange for a tithe. As a collection of human nobles come to meet with the vampire council for protection from the werewolves in exchange for this aforementioned tithe, Sonja goes out to guard them. Lucian hears the Lycans near Sonja and steals a horse and sword from a nearby Death Dealer. Wild werewolves proceed to attack and kill the nobles, causing Lucian to engage in a battle with them. When Lucian takes off his collar and changes into a Lycan in order to protect himself, the wild werewolves back down to his howl and leave before Lucian is shot down by Viktor's men. Viktor, despite grudgingly acknowledging that Lucian saved his daughter, notes that Lucian still transgressed the laws of the coven by taking off the collar that kept him in check (by preventing him from changing into a Lycan) and feels betrayed by what he thinks of as his favorite pet. Subsequently, he locks Lucian away after having him whipped thirty times with a three pronged chain-bladed whip.
