#17: E-Books : Japanese Candlesticks |

| The Author: ompeompe | 13 January 2009 | Views: 1461 |

| |
If someone told you they had uncovered a 300 year old secret that had the potential to bring great wealth, would you listen? If this, then, could explain the mysteries behind the secret so that you could profit as well, would you be interested? For those of you who are involved in the stock market, technical analysis can be somewhat of a mystery. You research and study, yet your trades just don’t end up being very successful. All you need to know is how to recognize the easily-seen signals the Japanese Candlesticks create. A candlestick chart is a style of bar-chart used primarily to describe price movements of an equity over time. It is a combination of a line-chart and a bar-chart, in that each bar represents the range of price movement over a given time interval. It is most often used in technical analysis of equity and currency price patterns. They appear superficially similar to error bars, but are unrelated. Candlestick charts are said to have been developed in the 18th century by legendary Japanese rice trader Homma Munehisa. The charts gave Homma and o thers an overview of open, high, low, and close market prices over a certain period. This style of charting is very popular due to the level of ease in reading and understanding the graphs. Since the 17th century, there has been a lot of effort to relate chart patterns to the likely future behavior of a market. This method of charting prices proved to be particularly interesting, due to the ability to display five data points instead of one. The Japanese rice traders also found that the resulting charts would provide a fairly reliable tool to predict future demand. |

#20: E-Books : Sentiment in the Forex Market by Jamie Saettele |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 2 January 2009 | Views: 1284 |
| |
Crowds move markets and at major market turning points, the crowds are almost always wrong. When crowd sentiment is overwhelmingly positive or overwhelmingly negative – it's a signal that the trend is exhausted and the market is ready to move powerfully in the opposite direction. Sentiment has long been a tool used by equity, futures, and options traders. In Sentiment in the Forex Market, FXCM analyst Jaime Saettele applies sentiment analysis to the currency market, using both traditional and new sentiment indicators, including: Commitment of Traders reports; time cycles; pivot points; oscillators; and Fibonacci time and price ratios. He also explains how to interpret news coverage of the markets to get a sense of when participants have become overly bullish or bearish. Saettele points out that several famous traders such as George Soros and Robert Prechter made huge profits by identifying shifts in crowd sentiment at major market turning points. Many individual traders lose money in the currency market, Saettele asserts, because they are too short-term oriented and trade impulsively. He believes retail traders would be much more successful if they adopted a longer-term, contrarian approach, utilizing sentiment indicators to position themselves at the beginning points of major trends. With a number of firms now offering retail traders direct access to the interbank foreign exchange market, participation in the FX market has grown substantially. As a result, the amount of technical and fundamental information available to traders has increased exponentially in recent years. An area that has failed to receive the same amount of attention is sentiment. |

#22: E-Books : Day Trading the Currency Market by Kathy Lien |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 26 December 2008 | Views: 1847 |
| |
The currency/foreign exchange (FX) market is by far the largest financial market in the world, with trading volumes surpassing $1.9 trillion a day. Although primarily dominated by a worldwide network of interbank traders, a new era of Internet-based communication technologies has recently allowed individual investors to gain direct access to this popular—and profitable—market. Written by Kathy Lien—chief strategist for the number one online currency broker in the world—Day Trading the Currency Market reveals a variety of technical and fundamental profit-making strategies for trading the currency/FX market, and provides a more detailed look at how this market actually works. Filled with in-depth insight and expert advice, Day Trading the Currency Market can show you how to enter this highly competitive arena with confidence and exit with profits. You will find some interesting and informative content in this book that can be useful in your educational path in Forex. But it is important to keep in mind that the book is written not by a trading entrepreneur but by a representative of one of the largest Forex brokers. To become a successful trader it is essential to recognize the vast difference in agenda between winning traders and brokers. The entire industry is driven by brokers and almost all material available on learning to trade is tied directly or indirectly to the broker industry whose agenda is to teach trading strategies that make the most money for THEM. Because the industry is unregulated, brokers are able to get away with many less than ethical practices. For instance, it is ironic that ano ther reader mentions how Kathy covers the subject of the "carry trade" in detail. |

#23: E-Books : Dynamic Hedging by Nassim Nicholas Taleb |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 26 December 2008 | Views: 789 |
| |
Dynamic Hedging is the definitive source on derivatives risk. It provides a real-world methodology for managing portfolios containing any nonlinear security. It presents risks from the vantage point of the option market maker and arbitrage operator. The only book about derivatives risk written by an experienced trader with theoretical training, it remolds option theory to fit the practitioner's environment. As a larger share of market exposure cannot be properly captured by ma thematical models, noted option arbitrageur Nassim Taleb uniquely covers both on-model and off-model derivatives risks. The author discusses including: * The generalized option, which encompasses all instruments with convex payoff, including a trader's potential bonus. * The techniques for trading exotic options, including binary, barrier, multiasset, and Asian options, as well as methods to take into account the wrinkles of actual, non-bellshaped distributions. * Market dynamics viewed from the practitioner's vantage point, including liquidity holes, portfolio insurance, squeezes, fat tails, volatility surface, GARCH, curve evolution, static option replication, correlation instability, Pareto-Levy, regime shifts, autocorrelation of price changes, and the severe flaws in the value at risk method. * New tools to detect risks, such as higher moment analysis, topography exposure, and nonparametric techniques. * The path dependence of all options hedged dynamically |

#26: E-Books : Forex Patterns & Probabilities by Ed Ponsi |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 23 December 2008 | Views: 2309 |
| |
Without a doubt this book is far superior to anything else available on the subject of forex trading. "Forex Patterns and Probabilities" will become a trading classic not only for the tremendous amount of useful information it provides, but for the easy and fun way that the information is presented. The author, Ed Ponsi, presents very detailed strategies and then demonstrates them to the reader in a very concise manner. This is exactly what I needed and what most traders need - clear, unambiguous directions that explain in perfect detail exactly what the trader must do to make money trading. This book is a must read. It is packed with lots of information and filled with little distinctions that may seem minor on the surface, but can mean the difference between defeat and success. Just as important as the great trading techniques are the explanations why they make so much sense. This book cuts through the nonsense, and if you understand what Ed is saying then you realize that much of the o ther stuff that is out there is pretty useless. Maybe obsolete is a better word, now that this book is out there the bar has been raised and hopefully the quality of o ther books in this genre will pick up the pace. Read this book! |
