You might still believe that you can win big in stocks, and there are very few financial advisors that are going to tell you otherwise. Have you been listening to them? In fact all of them will tell you to put all of your money in stocks and mutual funds-of course they will recommend this; they are making a commission gambling with your money-money you can't afford to lose. Wall Street is just like any other industry spending millions on psychologists, focus groups, and behavioral specialists to discover how they can sell their products and services to you. The big difference is what they're selling. It's not like they are trying to sell the latest bottled water, a new car, or a teeth whitener. Instead, they are selling a fantasy disguised as an investment. |

#9: E-Books : Bad Money by Kevin Phillips (AUDIOBOOK) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 29 January 2009 | Views: 869 |
|
|
| |
"Bad Money" is about the insecurity of America's future given a debt-gorged financial sector, and vulnerability caused by expensive dependence on imported oil. The term refers not just to the depreciated dollar but also dangerous attitudes and flawed financial products. Kevin Phillips dedicates his latest insightful work of political and economic history to his grandson. It's a fitting tribute since, by the author's reckoning, the aforementioned young man might be well into his forties, and the U.S. deeply into its post-imperial senescence, by the time the mischief explained in the pages of Bad Money is fully digested by the earth's economic system. Instead of reflecting upon and compensating for the turn to an unprecedented expansion of finance capitalism that today supersedes manufacturing in this nation by at least six percent of GDP, Wall Street, our empire's "coliseum," chose instead to gamble upon the promulgation of an unregulated class of investments known as derivatives, the size and scope of which, particularly in terms of their capacity to hedge against risk, could only be guessed at. So much for the efficacy of market deregulation. Through his incisive and perceptive use of charts and tables, and,in his exceptionally clear narrative, Phillips makes the case that our government lies to itself as well as us. Now, American have fifty trillion dollars in debt. |

#13: E-Books : Interviews with America's Top Stock Traders by Jack D. Schwager |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 29 November 2008 | Views: 1298 |

|
| |
A great educational tool for amateurs and professionals alike. A terrific tool for investors revealing the trading philosophies and disciplines of those on the frontline in our business. Newcomers to Jack Schwager's series on top traders, as well as fervent fans of his first two entries Market Wizards and The New Market Wizards, will find that Stock Market Wizards offers another revealing look at a wide spectrum of trading styles through the eyes of 15 extraordinarily successful individuals. Transcripts of incisive Q&A sessions between Schwager and traders--including Michael Lauer, Dana Galante, Alphonse "Buddy" Fletcher Jr., and Cl audio Guazzoni--examine the ways each approaches their specialty, whether it be value stocks, mutual funds, short selling, options trading, or other market niches. After brief but interesting introductions that place the subjects' trading practices into perspective, Schwager coaxes from them penetrating observations on setting goals, finding opportunities, learning from mistakes, and operating on a day-to-day basis. While some participants refuse to divulge proprietary practices, and Anthony admits that many traders' activities hold little relevance to individual investors, the basic doctrines nonetheless contain nuggets of wisdom that can be applied by many nonprofessionals. And, in the final "Wizard Lessons" chapter, Schwager details the 65 overarching principles (such as Trade Your Personality, Be Willing to Take a Loss, and The Importance of Setting Goals) he culled from these extensive conversations. --Howard Rothman --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. |

#14: E-Books : The Complete Arkangel Shakespeare: 38 Fully-Dramatized Plays |

AudioBook | PDF, MP3 (CBR 60 Kbps Mono) | 101h:36min | Publisher: Audio Partners; Unabridged Edition | ISBN: 1932219005 | March 2003 |2.7 GB “To Buy or Not to Buy! Educators, lovers of theatre and great literature – take note! Late in the 1990s, Harper Row began to release on cassettes the Arkangel Complete Shakespeare, all of which I reviewed in one paper or another. Using some of the best of the young theatrical talent in Great Britain and some of the older established stars of stage and screen, the producers gave us readings of every single word of every single play by Shakespeare, including the seldom-performed “Two Noble Kinsmen” which is partially by Shakespeare. Well, hold on! Audio Partners has been contracted to release the entire set on CDs. The trick is that you cannot purchase the individual sets but are required to purchase the entire package of 38 plays for $600. That is 98 CDs in all with a playing time of just over 101 hours! Libraries and school departments take note. Hearing them as they were released on tape in batches of four or five, I was impressed mostly with the enormity of the project but found some things to quibble about. Casting Oberon and Titania with a pair whose voices were South African or Jamaican (no Henry Higgins, I) made some sense in that it emphasized their other-worldly-ness. So did assigning Malvolio in “Twelfth Night” to an actor with a distinct Scottish accent, but giving Mercutio in “Romeo and Juliet” to the same actor was absurd. Then too there is that sudden sound effect of a train pulling out of a station in the middle of “All's Well That Ends Well”! Granted there was a production current then that did place the play in more modern times, but when one is hearing a recording with no clue as to setting, the result was jarring and should have been omitted. |
