One of my favourite comedy series
When Penny's comment about Wolowitz's love life sends him into a depressed stupor, his friends lose their most important team-mate in an upcoming fighting robot competition. When Sheldon accepts a challenge for a one on one fight, pitting their robot, M.O.N.T.E. (Mobile Omnidirectional Neutralization and Termination Eradicator), against that of their co-worker, Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie) Leonard tries to get Howard back on their team by sending Penny to apologize to him, reminding her that she owed him a favor for when he came home pantless in the Pilot episode.

Recorded in December 1983, In Session captures an in-concert jam between Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, who had become the hot blues guitarist of the year thanks to his debut Texas Flood, as well as his work on David Bowie's hit Let's Dance. Vaughan may have been the new news, but King was not suffering, either. He had a world-class supporting band and was playing as well as he ever had. In other words, the stage was set for a fiery, exciting concert and that's exactly what they delivered. Vaughan was clearly influenced by King -- there are King licks all over his first two recorded efforts, and it was an influence that stayed with him to the end -- and he was unafraid to go toe-to-toe with his idol. King must have been impressed, since In Session never devolves into a mere cutting contest. Instead, each musicians spurs the other to greater heights. For aficionados of either guitarist, that means the album isn't just worth a listen -- it means that it's a record that sounds as exciting on each subsequent listen as does the first time through.

A good Christmas compilation should contain the following things--a selection of old classics to warm your cockles by the fireside, some of the classic pop titles that people always seem to find themselves singing along to in the pub on Christmas Eve, some carols and a handful of oddities to keep everyone on their toes. The Best Christmas Album in the World Ever manages to fulfil all these criteria--on the classic front there is Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" and Dean Martin's "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow", on the classic pop front there's Slade's "Merry Christmas Everybody" and Wizzard's "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday", traditional carols "Silent Night" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" head the field and as far as oddities go, look no further than the double whammy of "Lonely Pup (In A Christmas Shop)", courtesy of Adam Faith, and "Angels" by Robbie Williams (a pretty tenuous inclusion, especially considering the angel in the title is his mum). All in all, small gripes aside, The Best Christmas Album In The World Ever manages to live up to its name.
