TTC Discrete Mathematics | 4.52 GBVideo Lectures | Xvid 640x480 29.97fps | MP3 - 128Kbps | 24 lectures, 30 minutes per lecture Taught by Arthur T. Benjamin | Harvey Mudd College | Ph.D., The Johns Hopkins University Welcome to Discrete Mathematics, a subject that is off the beaten track that most of us followed in school but that has vital applications in computer science, cryptography, engineering, and problem solving of all types. Most of the mathematics taught after elementary school is aimed at preparing students for one subject— calculus, which is the mathematics of how things grow and change continuously, like waves in the water or clouds in the sky. Discrete mathematics, on the other hand, deals with quantities that can be broken into neat little pieces, like pixels on a computer screen, the letters or numbers in a password, or directions on how to drive from one place to another. |

Change and Motion Calculus Made Clear, 2nd Edition DVD | 5 GBTaught by Michael Starbird, The University of Texas at Austin / Ph.D., University of Wisconsin at Madison | ASIN: B000W7F9HU Course No. 177 (24 lectures, 30 minutes/lecture) "Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty ... such as only the greatest art can show." —Bertrand Russell Why Understand Calculus? One of the greatest achievements of the human mind is calculus. It justly deserves a place in the pantheon of our accomplishments with Shakespeare's plays, Beethoven's symphonies, and Einstein's theory of relativity. In fact, most of the differences in the way we experience life now and the way we experienced it at the beginning of the 17th century emerged because of technical advances that rely on calculus. Calculus is a beautiful idea exposing the rational workings of the world; it is part of our intellectual heritage. Download the files immediately before they delete again the files. |

Math Tutor DVD - The Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus | 1.9 GBDVDRIP | Eng | 5 hours | 29,97 fps | 640x480 | DivX - 773 kbps | AC3 - 128 kbits The Trigonometry And Pre- Calculus Tutor is a 5 hour DVD course geared to fully prepare a student to enter university level Calculus. Most students that have trouble with Calculus discover quickly that the root cause of their difficulty is actually that they have never mastered essential material in Trigonometry. For instance, a Calculus textbook will assume that the student is comfortable converting between degrees and radians and can use the unit circle to mentally calculate the Sin of an angle without a calculator. These topics and many other essential concepts are presented in this DVD course with exceptional clarity so that the student will feel well prepared to move into Calculus and Physics. |

For many students, even the name sounds intimidating. The truth is that Calculus is based on a few very powerful principles and once you fully understand those principles all of the additional topics naturally follow. Most Calculus textbooks begin the subject with a nauseating discussion of limits and then proceed to the introduction of a derivative which is one of the core topics in Calculus. |

Julian Havil “Impossible?: Surprising Solutions to Counterintuitive Conundrums" Princeton University Press | 2008-04-01 | ISBN: 0691131317 | 264 pages | PDF | 2,8 MB In Nonplussed!, popular-math writer Julian Havil delighted readers with a mind-boggling array of implausible yet true mathematical paradoxes. Now Havil is back with Impossible?, another marvelous medley of the utterly confusing, profound, and unbelievable--and all of it mathematically irrefutable. Whenever Forty-second Street in New York is temporarily closed, traffic doesn't gridlock but flows more smoothly--why is that? Or consider that cities that build new roads can experience dramatic increases in traffic congestion--how is this possible? What does the game show Let's Make A Deal reveal about the unexpected hazards of decision-making? What can the game of cricket teach us about the surprising behavior of the law of averages? These are some of the counterintuitive mathematical occurrences that readers encounter in Impossible? Havil ventures further than ever into territory where intuition can lead one astray. He gathers entertaining problems from probability and statistics along with an eclectic variety of conundrums and puzzlers from other areas of mathematics, including classics of abstract math like the Banach-Tarski paradox. These problems range in difficulty from easy to highly challenging, yet they can be tackled by anyone with a background in calculus. And the fascinating history and personalities associated with many of the problems are included with their mathematical proofs. Impossible? will delight anyone who wants to have their reason thoroughly confounded in the most astonishing and unpredictable ways. |

The Student`s Introduction To Mathematica: A Handbook for Precalculus, Calculus, and Linear Algebra, by Bruce F. Torrence Cambridge University Press; 2 edition | February 2, 2009 | English | ISBN: 0521717892 | PDF | 485 Pages | 4,80 Mb Description : The unique feature of this compact student`s introduction is that it presents concepts in an order that closely follows a standard mathematics curriculum, rather than structure the book along features of the software. As a result, the book provides a brief introduction to those aspects of the Mathematica software program most useful to students. The second edition of this well loved book is completely rewritten for Mathematica 6 including coverage of the new dynamic interface elements, several hundred exercises and a new chapter on programming. This book can be used in a variety of courses, from pre calculus to linear algebra. Used as a supplementary text it will aid in bridging the gap between the mathematics in the course and Mathematica. In addition to its course use, this book will serve as an excellent tutorial for those wishing to learn Mathematica and brush up on their mathematics at the same time. |

PDF |4.48 MB |433 Page Most senior students who supervised introductory computer science labs at Brock University back when I was there kicked their feet up on the front desk with a calculus book cracked open and growled when their homework was interrupted by a question. As anyone will tell you, I never fit the mold of the typical student. In my first lab, I put together a short booklet covering all the questions I had when I took my first lab in COSC 101; namely what was that funny prompt drawn in flickering green on the ailing terminals and how the heck can you use it to give yourself a cool nickname like VAX Dude in the DEC VMS process? I inadvertently left a pile of my booklets behind and the next day one of the other supervisors stomped up to me and angrily waved one in my face. Her class wanted to know why she hadn’t covered any of the material in the booklet. Doing an introductory lesson in shell usage in the first lab would have cut into her homework time, and I had better make sure it did not happen again. It didn’t, and my lab students gained about a three-week advantage over the others in view of the fact they didn’t have to learn the development environment piecemeal between assignments. |
