Straight To Hell: A Tribute To Slayer

Yet another tribute album. These things actually seem to breed, and soon enough there will be more tribute albums for Slayer than actual Slayer albums themselves. Well, at the very least this tribute album, good or bad, can say that it stands out from the rest.

This tribute also throws in techno and punk into the mix as well and as you could imagine is no different from the other tributes. Instead of just having one musical genre cover Slayer, they grab a handful of death metal bands, a handful of industrial bands, and then mix them all up on this tribute album.

All the tracks are good, all of these songs do the originals justice, theres no butchering of a song on here.

If you are a die-hard Slayer fan, then you must get this. A couple of the groups incorporate too much death metal influence on the songs, but the rest are awesome.

METALLICA - Master of Puppets (TAB GUITARS+MP3)

2008 reissue of the 1986 album, Master of Puppets by Metallica which was ranked eighth on the list of the biggest selling groups in history, and one of the most influential bands in music. Metallica proved its metal with this groundbreaking album and it was hailed as a masterpiece by critics far outside Heavy Metal's core audience.

Master Of Puppets sold over half a million copies at its time of release without any major video/radio airplay, making it the band s first record to be certified Gold by the RIAA. It was the last album the band recorded with bass player Cliff Burton before his death later that year.

This is one of the finest albums every produced, largely in part to bassist Cliff Burton, the most classically trained member of the band. Sadly this would be his final album, but if he had to give a final farewell before his sudden and unfortunate death, this album screams with a power that engraves into the listeners' minds, "Cliff was here!"

There is not a single dull moment on this masterpiece of puppetry. All the songs are played with lightning fast precision, and glorious heavy metal power. Metallica truly shows their maximum talent in this amazing album. This 24k gold MP3 holds beautiful sound quality that will blow any fan away.

Archeon (2005)

Album: End of the Weakness
Artist: Archeon
Genre: Melodic death metal
Quality: 192 kbps

What do you get when you combine tasty symphonic progressive metal arrangements with melodic death metal styled vocals? Well, probably something like End of the Weakness from Poland's Archeon. This is another Metal Mind rescue, as this CD was originally released in 2005 on Empire Records. There's some serious talent going on here on the albums short 35 minute length, which features 9 tracks that mesh ripping prog-metal with furious melodic death metal. From the opening symphonic attack of "Arising", you are instantly hooked, and things continue through the speed metal sounds of "Day of the Doom", complete with intricate rhythms and shred guitar solos. Singer/lead guitarist Michal Kostrzynski is the star of the show here, his Children of Bodom-ish harsh vocals and nimble guitra runs settle right into these majestic metal songs, which feature well-thought out riffs, oodles of keyboards, and pummeling drum work. Not everything here is fast & furious-check out the 80's metal styles of "Queen of the Night" or the catchy symphonic metal of the single "Prayer" for proof of Archeon's committment to solid melodic metal. However, it's the Symphony X meets Children of Bodom influenced ne-classical prog-death metal rippers like "Struggle With Death", "Lost Fool", and "Ruins of Life" that ultimately impress the most here, showing a band with excellent chops and songwriting skills. If you like dueling guitar and keyboard solos backed by sweeping keys and speed metal drum work, you've come to the right place.

RELOAD - Metallica (TAB+MP3)

The album Reload is essentially the tracks that were not finished from the Load sessions, at the time the band had planned to make Load a double album but after a lengthy stay in the studio they decided to split it up over two albums. The band insisted that these weren’t Load rejects and claimed that these songs were of a more extreme nature either heavier or mellower that needed more time spent so they decided to leave them for this album.

Kicking off with the bombastic Fuel, the album immediately announces itself as a “don’t fuck with this” type of affair. Memory bares another side of the met with an interesting choice of guest vocals by Marianne faithful (renowned for her escapades involving Mick Jagger and a mars bar!!) that offset the often-unrealised heaviness and greatness of the song. Devils Dance is a mother of a song, with a bass heavy grove underlying the entire journey with monstrous vocals throughout.

Up next we have an astonishing ballad in the form of the Unforgiven II, more than a reworking of the original with a character of its own whilst still being underpinned with the melody of the first from the Black Album. This track is immensely deep and powerful, an awesome track, and in an equal for the already acclaimed Unforgiven released some six years previous to this offering.
