Possibly the biggest (and first) stadium electro act, Depeche Mode have sold out arenas and topped charts all over the world, and this album is a neat summary of their first three decades together. With the same alternative-pop theme as the first Smallville collection, this second disc once again reveals just how much the show integrates music into its plot lines and overall feel. The track list includes familiar songs such as the All American Rejects' "Dirty Little Secret," and Depeche Mode's newest hit "Precious," but there are also a few surprises. The Alan Moulder remix of the Dandy Warhols' "All The Money Or Simple Life Honey" is a booty-shaking blast, while the rock-meets-goth cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" courtesy of HIM is an amusingly amped-up new take on the older tune. Actress-songstress Minnie Driver offers her light jazz take on Springsteen's "Hungry Heart" , and Lifehouse delivers their touching version of "You and Me," while Josh Kelley's "Almost Honest" could be the soundtrack to anybody's breakup or breakdown. It's true that many of these songs have been previously released, but Smallville fans are a devoted bunch who will likely appreciate being able to buy their favorite tracks on one disc.

The Stray Cats is that rare band that emerged in the early 80s playing straight up rockabilly against a backdrop of post New Wave and the latest British Invasion e.g. U2, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Culture Club etc and yet still managed to chart 2 hits from this album on the American Top-40 countdown: "Rock This Town" and "Stray Cats' Strut". The other tracks are far from filler material too with "Rumble In Brighton" being the one great standout among other good tracks. If you are into old time rockabilly like Cliff Gallup or just plain Bill Haley type rock and roll, this is the disc to get. This album has been very well remastered for a great sound.
