(January 25, 2008) Language: English ISBN-10: 0596516177 ISBN-13: 978-0596516178 The Ruby Programming Language is the authoritative guide to Ruby and provides comprehensive coverage of versions 1.8 and 1.9 of the language. It was written (and illustrated!) by an all-star team: David Flanagan, bestselling author of programming language "bibles" (including javascript: The Definitive Guide and Java in a Nutshell) and committer to the Ruby Subversion repository. Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto, creator, designer and lead developer of Ruby and author of Ruby in a Nutshell, which has been expanded and revised to become this book. why the lucky stiff, artist and Ruby programmer extraordinaire. This book begins with a quick-start tutorial to the language, and then explains the language in detail from the bottom up: from lexical and syntactic structure to datatypes to expressions and statements and on through methods, blocks, lambdas, closures, classes and modules. The book also includes a long and thorough introduction to the rich API of the Ruby platform, demonstrating -- with heavily-commented example code -- Ruby's facilities for text processing, numeric manipulation, collections, input/output, networking, and concurrency. An entire chapter is devoted to Ruby's metaprogramming capabilities. The Ruby Programming Language documents the Ruby language definitively but without the formality of a language specification. It is written for experienced programmers who are new to Ruby, and for current Ruby programmers who want to challenge their understanding and increase their mastery of the language. #12: E-Books : Programming Visual Basic 2008: Build .NET 3.5 Applications with Microsoft's RAD Tool for Business

: 0![]() Addison-Wesley Professional 2/27/2004 | 512 Pages | English | ISBN-10: 0201786958 | 4.6 MB Computing hardware would have no value without software; software tells hardware what to do. Software therefore must have special authority within computing systems. All computer security problems stem from that fact, and Exploiting Software: How to Break Code shows you how to design your software so it’s as resistant as possible to attack. Sure, everything’s phrased in offensive terms (as instructions for the attacker, that is), but this book has at least as much value in showing designers what sorts of attacks their software will face (the book could serve as a checklist for part of a pre-release testing regimen). Plus, the clever reverse-engineering strategies that Greg Hoglund and Gary McGraw teach will be useful in many legitimate software projects. Consider this a recipe book for mayhem, or a compendium of lessons learned by others. It depends on your situation. PHP programmers will take issue with the authors’ blanket assessment of their language (”PHP is a study in bad security”), much of which seems based on older versions of the language that had some risky default behaviors–but those programmers will also double-check their servers’ register_globals settings. Users of insufficiently cracked Microsoft and Oracle products will worry about the detailed attack instructions this book contains. Responsible programmers and administrators will appreciate what amounts to documentation of attackers’ rootkits for various operating systems, and will raise their eyebrows at the techniques for writing malicious code to unused EEPROM chips in target systems. –David Wall #15: E-Books : FireFox For Dummies

: 2![]() 816 pages | Prentice Hall Ptr | English | ISBN: 0139177094 | PDF | 3.01 MB Despite C++'s syntactic similarities to C, the two languages are fundamentally different in nature--a fact that can complicate the task of learning C++ if you already know C. Thinking in C++ explains C++ to C programmers not just from the perspective of writing code, but from the perspective of software engineering and design--how do you conceptualize programs that exploit C++'s capabilities? With readable prose, Bruce Eckel offers a compelling explanation of what object-oriented languages in general and C++ in particular have to offer and teaches you how to apply it. The book covers not only introductory topics but advanced ones such as multiple inheritance and templates. Author: zeetbear | 4 December 2007 |
: 14![]() Author: Jon Erickson | Type: Hacking & Internet | English | Pdf | 264 Pages | Size 1.5 MB A fine book--> A must have for programmers for the thought process presented alone. Exteremly thorough coverage of several limited types of security issues. It includes major sections on programming, networking, and cryptography. Many hacking books show you how to run other people's exploits without really explaining the technical details, Hacking: The Art Of Exploitation introduces you to the spirit and theory of hacking as well as the science behind it all... The Fundamental Techniques Of Serious Hacking: This book does an excellent job of explain various techniques that hackers employ. The explainations include examples, source code, breakouts, and descriptions. The book progresses from basic examples to more complex by building upon a project a little at a time. The book bascially covers 3 broad areas: programming, networking, and cryptogrophy. Programming covers buffer overflows, stack exploits, heap overflows, polymorphic code, inline loaders and other information. Examples are presented in C and assembly. Networking covers many different exploits generally centered around the modification of packets and/or spoofing. Cryptography generally covers password based attacks. The author has a careful approach that makes the book enjoyable to read and easy to follow. He does not jump from one step to the next without covering each step in detail.
