#8: Music : Yngwie Malmsteen - Alchemy (TAB GUITARS+MP3) |

Yngwie J. Malmsteen's "Alchemy" is an amazing album from start to finish. Being the first album that Yngwie himself has written and arranged everything on, he did a fabulous job. The album has heavy material pretty much all the way through. He left the commercial material off of this one. Yngwie Malmsteen is arguably the most technically accomplished hard rock guitarist to emerge during the '80s. Combining a dazzling technique honed over years of obsessive practice with a love for such classical composers as Bach, Beethoven, and Paganini, Malmsteen's distinctively Baroque, gothic compositional style and lightning-fast arpeggiated solos rewrote the book on heavy metal guitar. His largely instrumental debut album, Rising Force, immediately upped the ante for aspiring hard rock guitarists and provided the major catalyst for the '80s guitar phenomenon known as "shredding," in which the music's main focus was on impossibly fast, demanding licks rather than songwriting. This is Yngwie's best album and it features his best vocalist ever Joe Lynn Turner. Yngwie combines Neo Classical Metal, Hair Metal and Power Metal to make his best album ever! The collaboration of Joe Lynn Turner and Yngwie Malmsteen make this album a classic in my book. The songs are perfectly crafted, which says a lot for an artist who is known as a guitar virtuoso, but a mediocre songwriter. In fact, this is the only album by Yngwie Malmsteen where the songs are equal in appeal to his guitar mastery. Every song on Odyssey is a masterpiece. Even the slow, thoughtful songs still sound "heavy" enough, but the music is emotionally moving at the same time. And Joe Lynn Turner is at his best on this album, hook-laden melodic rock tunes that need to be heard TAB GUITARS INCLUDED! |

From the early to mid 80s, heavy metal took off as a new and expanding form of what rock music was truly capable of doing. First in the 80s there was the new wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) scene, followed by a split direction in the mid 80s with the lighter glam metal and the heavier thrash metal movements. However, there was also a category which falls right inbetween the two called Power Metal. It combines the themes and heaviness of real heavy metal bands with the melodic and mainstream stylings of glam metal into an unbeatable synthesis. Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force was one of the forerunners of modern power metal, appearing in the mid 80s with an excellent trio of masterpiece albums. Unlike thrash, NWOBHM, and glam, power metal was a genre which did not take off in America nor England, but rather it thrived in lesser countries of Europe such as Finland and Sweden. To this day, power metal is the ONLY remaining form of true metal music, not that rap/metal poser junk which plagues modern American radio. Rising Force consists of members Jeff Scott Soto on vocals, Yngwie J. Malmsteen on guitars, Marcel Jacob on bass, Anders Johansson on drums, and Jens Johansson on keyboards (for those who didn't know, Jens eventually joined Dio and then in the mid 90s teamed up with Stratovarius). Everyone performs reasonably well on here, from Soto's soaring vocals to Jens Johansson's melodic keyboard textures and harpsichord solos (which he would be later famous for in Stratovarius). While everyone plays well, IT'S YNGWIE'S GUITAR PLAYING THAT TRULY STANDS OUT PHENOMENALLY. |

#11: Music : Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame |

Released October 14, 2008 Genre Neo-classical metal, Heavy metal, Power metal Length 66:09 Label Rising Force, Koch Producer Yngwie Malmsteen Perpetual Flame is an all-new studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and his group Rising Force, released on October 13, 2008 in Europe and on October 14, 2008 in the U.S.A. and Canada. It is his first album since 2005's Unleash the Fury and the first with ex-Judas Priest and Iced Earth singer Tim "Ripper" Owens. The album also features famed keyboardist Derek Sherinian on keyboards. The album was also produced by Malmsteen himself, who also served as engineer, and was mixed by Roy Z (of Bruce Dickinson and Halford fame). Mysteriously, lyrics were printed in the insert of Perpetual Flame for a song entitled "Tied of Desire." The lyrics are about not giving up, and of a Perpetual fire, a flame still burning; themes that seem to go with the title of the album. As of now it is unclear if this was a mistake or if this was purely intentional. The eleventh song on the album is spelled in three different ways. On the back of the album, the song is called "Leventh Hour", while on the back of the booklet the song's title is "Eleventh Hour". Finally, inside the booklet the song is called "The Eleventh Hour". The title on the back cover is most certainly misspelled. Tags: Yngwie Malmsteen, Music |

#12: Music : Archeon <<End of the Weakness>> (2005) |
 |
| |
|
|

Album: End of the Weakness Artist: Archeon Genre: Melodic death metal Quality: 192 kbps What do you get when you combine tasty symphonic progressive metal arrangements with melodic death metal styled vocals? Well, probably something like End of the Weakness from Poland's Archeon. This is another Metal Mind rescue, as this CD was originally released in 2005 on Empire Records. There's some serious talent going on here on the albums short 35 minute length, which features 9 tracks that mesh ripping prog-metal with furious melodic death metal. From the opening symphonic attack of "A rising", you are instantly hooked, and things continue through the speed metal sounds of "Day of the Doom", complete with intricate rhythms and shred guitar solos. Singer/lead guitarist Michal Kostrzynski is the star of the show here, his Children of Bodom-ish harsh vocals and nimble guitra runs settle right into these majestic metal songs, which feature well-thought out riffs, oodles of keyboards, and pummeling drum work. Not everything here is fast & furious-check out the 80's metal styles of "Queen of the Night" or the catchy symphonic metal of the single "Prayer" for proof of Archeon's committment to solid melodic metal. However, it's the Symphony X meets Children of Bodom influenced ne-classical prog-death metal rippers like "Struggle With Death", "Lost Fool", and "Ruins of Life" that ultimately impress the most here, showing a band with excellent chops and songwriting skills. If you like dueling guitar and keyboard solos backed by sweeping keys and speed metal drum work, you've come to the right place. Tags: Music |

#13: Music : Paul Brandon Gilbert (Paul Gilbert) |

Paul Gilbert (born November 6, 1966 in Illinois, United States of America ) is an American guitarist, he began playing music at age five, and by age but soon gave up, becoming frustrated with just learning simple nursery rhymes. Around age 11, he took up the guitar again, but with a skewed memory of the technique; he played only with upstrokes, and only used his middle finger to Paul Gilbert. Frustrated after trying to play a fast metal song with a galloping rhythm using this technique, he took lessons, and his teacher explained the error of his ways. His technique corrected, Gilbert continued practicing, and by the age of 15 he was not only touring local clubs with his band Tau Zero but was even spotlighted in Guitar Player alongside fellow up-and-comer Yngwie Malmsteen. Now, he is recognized as one of the best metal guitar players, a status due to his undeniably amazing technique, clarity, creativity and versatility.15 was not only touring local clubs with his band Tau Zero but was even spotlighted in Guitar Player magazine alongside fellow up-and-comer Yngwie Malmsteen. In 1984 Gilbert relocated to Los Angeles to attend the Guitar Institute of Technology, becoming an instructor there the following year; concurrently he formed the band Electric Fence, which by 1986 evolved into Racer X. Their debut album Street Lethal appeared later that year, but in the wake of the follow-up, 1987's Second Heat, Gilbert exited to join Mr. Big, which in 1992 topped the pop charts with the ballad "To Be with You." Mr. Big disbanded in 1996, and a year later Gilbert made his solo debut with King of Clubs; Flying Dog followed in 1998, trailed by Beehive Live in 1999 and Alligator Farm in fall 2000. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide |

#14: Music : Our Lady Peace - Healthy In Paranoid Times (2005) |
 |
| |
| The Author: xion76 | 25 October 2008 | Views: 1313 |
|
|
| |
MP3 | 12 Tracks | Genre: Alternative | 186-244 kbps | 72.9 MB While Our Lady Peace's lead singer, Raine Maida, can be accused of writing rather cryptic lyrics, the liner notes of the new OLP CD are anything but subtle. The artwork kicks off with the statement "1165 days were needed to record Healthy In Paranoid Times"; the remaining pages show no lyrics or band shots, just statistics varying from how many people died of AIDS in that span of time (9.8 million) to how much money was spent on the arms trade ($3 trillion). Time spent by Raine and wife Chantal Kreviazuk overseas with the War Child charity have deeply affected the singer and it shows. On Healthy, the band's music is orchestral right from the get-go. "Angels/Losing/Sleep" jumps from quiet, fragile moments to emo-implosions, not only showcasing Raine's unique vocals, but also how undercurrents of combative guitar solos can turn a simple melody into something wonderfully unsettling, a true OLP trait. The group's frenetic first single, "Where Are You" is singer Maida's plea to a society enshrouded in indulgence, while "Boy" has the raw passion of early U2, with the song rising to a joyful, moving climax. One of the disc's strongest tracks is "Don't Stop." While not mimicking Radiohead or Coldplay, the group seems to embrace the like-minded love of turning a four-minute melody into something more orchestral and emotional, a thread consistent throughout this well-crafted disc. --Denise Sheppard Track Listings:1. Angels Losing Sleep 2. Don't Stop 3. Walking In Circles 4. Al Genina (Leave The Light On) 5. Will The Future Blame Us |
