#9: E-Books : The Fundamentals of Illustration - AVA Publishing 2005 |
 |

| The Author: pixelorder | 20 February 2009 | Views: 1209 |

The Fundamentals of Illustration - AVA Publishing / 2005 Illustration is a dirty word, or at least was until recently. Neither truly accepted by the art establishment nor the design industry, illustration has battled on regardless. Derided as whimsical by artists and arty by designers, illustration had found itself existing in a no-manÕs-land between the two. In education the discipline has fared no better - rarely given more than just studio space, the student illustrator has learnt to bend the rules and break across borders to gain access to facilities and equipment to facilitate their work. So life as an illustrator is not for the faint-hearted, it takes massive determination to face the demands and rigours of a career choice that can feel vastly unsupported, but against these odds the discipline has mounted an impressive return to form. How and why? According to The National Museum of Illustration in Rhode Island, USA, 'Illustrators combine personal expression with pictorial representation in order to convey ideasÕ - a useful description certainly, but one that falls short of fully capturing the essence of what the subject is or has been about. Describing the 'golden eraÕ, when magazines such as the Saturday Evening Post scoured the studios for great illustrators, Steven Heller the design writer and art director stated that 'Illustration was the peopleÕs artÕ. A sentiment echoed by the National Museum of Illustration - 'illustration serves as a reservoir of our social and cultural historyÕ, even going onto state - 'Illustration is therefore, a significant and enduring art formÕ. |

#10: Music : WASP - The Headless Children (+TAB GUITARS) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 30 December 2008 | Views: 1397 |

|
| |
This album marks a complete change of sound for the band. The songs were longer, more complex, and featured lyrics about more than just driking & sex. Chris Holmes was never much of a lead guitarist, but on this disc even he steps up and delivers well. This album is heavy and dark (nicely broken up by "Forever Free," a great ballad). Was it the addition of Banali, who's clearly a stronger drummer that made the difference? Who can say, really? At the end of the day, this album took WASP to a new level. If you don't have this and you're any kind of WASP fan, do yourself a favor and pick this on up. Right off the bat, "The Heretic (The Lost Child)" kicks into high gear and sets the pace for the record. Track 2 is a rocking cover of the Who's "The Real Me," which received heavy rotation on MTv back in the day. The Headless Children is packed from beginning to end with interesting songs that make you wonder what happened to the simple rock songs these guys used to churn out. WASP was a band that always rode just under the crest of the Glam Metal wave of the late 1980s. They were too antisocial to gain much radio play and too heavy for many Glam fans. The hairspray, makeup and songs about girls alienated many other metal fans. However, WASP made too much noise to be ignored. |

#11: Music : Yngwie Malmsteen - Odyssey (TAB GUITARS+MP3) |

This is Yngwie's best album and it features his best vocalist ever Joe Lynn Turner. Yngwie combines Neo Classical Metal, Hair Metal and Power Metal to make his best album ever! The collaboration of Joe Lynn Turner and Yngwie Malmsteen make this album a classic in my book. The songs are perfectly crafted, which says a lot for an artist who is known as a guitar virtuoso, but a mediocre songwriter. In fact, this is the only album by Yngwie Malmsteen where the songs are equal in appeal to his guitar mastery. Every song on Odyssey is a masterpiece. Even the slow, thoughtful songs still sound "heavy" enough, but the music is emotionally moving at the same time. And Joe Lynn Turner is at his best on this album, hook-laden melodic rock tunes that need to be heard TAB GUITARS INCLUDED! |

#12: Music » Music Video : Steve Vai - Live at the Astoria London |

This is a great expo of Steve Vai and his incredible talent. You will watched this Video over and over and you will love it. His playing in incredible. His stage antics are fun, entertaining and moving. It truly shows off Steve Vai's talent and personality. Steve Vai, he's not only an incredible guitarist but simply radiates life and music. If you are a pop music fan that does not consider a piece of music to be real music if there is no lead singer...skip this. If you believe there is never any reason to become a vituoso guitar player...or if you think playing the same 3 cords over and over while repeating the same tired blues licks makes you a virtuoso...skip this. If you think a guitarist like Clapton standing in one spot for an entire show is the way to go...SKIP THIS. This Video is for guitar players. If you need inspiration...if you need to know what the guitar is capable of.. .the Video is for you. If you like showmanship in a live performance..THIS IS FOR YOU. Vai is one-of-a-kind. Most can't say that. He moves, he grooves...and he still plays things that mortals cannot play. Excellent video of an excellent band, starring the incredible Steve Vai. You can learn a lot from watching carefully! Maybe guitar heros in the music world are no longer important recently. When Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen played, automatically generations wanted to play. No players have come across since then with such apogee and influenced as many. But Steve Vai actually makes the guitar an anttractive instrument to listen to. |

#13: Music : VAN HALEN - 1984 (Remastered, TAB GUITARS+MP3) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 21 December 2008 | Views: 1397 |
|
|

1984 was a successful record not only because it contained solid, catchy hard rock, but also because it incorporated synthesizers into the mix, the first metal album to do so to any serious extent. Although the advances in electronic music make this material sound dated now, it's still a highlight of Van Halen's career. Songs like "Jump" contain a pop element that gave 1984 mainstream appeal, and David Lee Roth turned the frontman role into an art form on songs such as "Panama," "Hot for Teacher," "Drop Dead Legs," and "I'll Wait." To a large extent, it was 1984 that set the standard for '80s pop metal, and David Lee Roth who set the standard (or takes the blame, depending on your point of view) for the aggressively good-time attitude most pop-metal bands took for their own. This album was the last one that David Lee Roth recorded with Van Halen and he definitely left on a high note. This is a very fun album. This song seems to have set the tone for a lot of bands in the years following. Eddie Van Halen, well-known for his guitar prowess but also a classically-trained pianist, used 1984 as an opportunity to take the band into different territory. Eddie Van Halen's keyboard playing is more prominent on 1984 than on any prior Van Halen album, Additionally, 1984 was the first Van Halen album to be recorded at Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150. The studio lent its name to Van Halen's next album, the first with former Montrose vocalist/guitarist and solo artist Sammy Hagar. |

mp3 Format | 64 kbps | 260.5 MB | 9 Hours Book 4 in the "Odd" series. When listeners last saw Odd Thomas in the phenomenal New York Times bestseller Brother Odd, he was on the road to a new adventure, accompanied by two otherworldly sidekicks: his dog Boo, and one of the few companions who might rival his old pal Elvis - the C hairman of the Board. After grappling with the very essence of reality, and finding the veil separating him from his soul mate, Stormy Llewellyn, tantalizingly thin yet impenetrable, he longed only to return to his home in Pico Mundo. Instead, haunted by dreams of an all-encompassing red tide, he is drawn on, to the sea, to a small California coastal town where nothing is as it seems and where the forces arrayed against him have both official sanction and an infinitely more sinister authority. |

HumanSoftware AutoCorrect v1.53AutoCorrect is a very efficient one click color correction, it is not based on curves (even if we have added it for a perfect final tune-up) but based upon the techniques professionals are using in darkrooms. With AutoCorrect you get a professional picture enhancement tool in RGB ...directly on a layer of Photoshop if you wish... HumanSoftware AutoDeNoise v1.8Reduce Noise for sharper and crispier images. Noise is a very important issue in digital photography. Nearly all digital cameras produce images with an easily noticed noise component. This 'digital noise' is especially strong in images taken at high ISO rates. Scans of negatives show a similar film grain. When the picture is taken in low-light (indoor/night) or high-speed (sport/action) the noise is even more noticeable and a tool such as AutoDeNoise is needed. The noise and grain reduce the visual quality of digital images and resulting prints. HumanSoftware AutoFocus v1.0HumanSoft AutoFocus will let you preview your image and examine very fast within a large preview window at the pixel level what is the level of denoise and deblur you wish to apply. The setting may be saved and apply over and over again in a couple of clicks. |

#18: Movie : No Country For Old Men (2007) |
 |
| |
| The Author: Michael | 14 March 2008 | Views: 6651 |
|
|
| |
English | Subtitle: English/French/Spanish | 122 min | XVid 640x272 | 384 kbps AC3 | 23 fps | Genre : Crime/Drama | 1,4 GB Premiered in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival, No Country for Old Men is a critically acclaimed 2007 film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Cormac McCarthy. Written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, the film features Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. Faithfully adapted from the well-received novel, No Country for Old Men draws heavily on McCarthy's themes of chance and fate. It tells the story of a drug deal gone very wrong and the ensuing cat-and-mouse drama as three men crisscross each other's paths in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas. ~Wikipedia . With NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, the Coen Brothers have found a perfect match in Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy. Their adaptation of McCarthy's praised novel is a staggering masterpiece. In this almost impossibly faithful adaptation, the film takes place in a small Texas border town in 1980. Sheriff Bell (a never-been-better Tommy Lee Jones) has ruled the land for years without the use of a gun, but a new brand of reckless lawlessness has taken over his town. Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is an innocent Everyman with a devoted wife, Carla Jean (Kelly Macdonald), but when he stumbles across a drug deal gone deadly and finds two million dollars, he's determined to keep it for himself. There's only one problem. He's being pursued by one of the most amoral, evil psychopaths that the big screen has ever seen. Wearing an absurd haircut and brandishing a pressurized weapon that's used to murder cattle, Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) creeps forward on his mission to track Moss down and return the money to its rightful owners to save his own skin. As the tension mounts, the body count begins to rise, confirming Sheriff Bell's inability to battle this new wave of modern brutality. The most striking thing about the Coen Brothers' thriller is their masterly use of silence to create an almost unbearable level of tension. Cinematographer Roger Deakins is once again at the top of his game, beautifully capturing this stark and lonely world. The well-rounded cast is clearly excited to be a part of such a stellar production--particularly Bardem, whose Chigurh is a freakishly mysterious monster, and is certain to haunt viewers long after the final credit has rolled. In a career filled with striking achievements, this might very well be the Coen Brothers' finest. It is filmmaking at its best. |
