Plot:
The show features the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his great-nephews. The nephews, who were originally living with their uncle Donald, are left in Scrooge's care when the former joins the Navy.Though Scrooge is the richest duck in the world, he constantly tries to find ways to increase his wealth. Many episodes involve protecting his wealth from villains who want to rob Scrooge of all his money. The prominent recurring antagonists in the show include the Beagle Boys and Magica De Spell who are always finding ways to rob and swindle Scrooge and his nephews. Scrooge's nemesis in the show is Flintheart Glomgold, who always tries to devise plans to dethrone Scrooge McDuck from his "Richest Duck in the World" title.The show's second season saw the addition of characters Fenton Crackshell and Bubba Duck. Along with them came stories that generally shifted away from the globetrotting plots of the first season, and revolved primarily in the contemporary setting of Duckburg. Episodes would feature either Bubba or Fenton but rarely both.Although Scrooge and his nephews were the show's main characters, some episodes focused on other characters like Launchpad or Gyro.Some episodes are based on Carl Barks stories or simply have elements from such stories. For example, the episode "The Unbreakable Bin" is based on Barks's story The Unsafe.

For several years now, "DuckTales" reruns have been missing from television or at best relegated to odd hours on the digital cable network Toon Disney. Revisiting the series for the first time in over a decade proved to quite a pleasant experience for me. Any aging undergone since last watching "DuckTales" is bound to have had a much greater effect on viewers than the show. It holds up as diverting, involving, and a generally good time. For the purposes of this review, I received the DVD less than a week before release date, which meant plowing through the more than ten hours of episodes as quickly as possible. Even in this less than leisurely viewing fashion, these episodes provided entertainment above and beyond what you would expect of a daily cartoon series created in 1987 or today.

"Short but sweet" is a good way to describe 2001's Max Payne, as well as its newly released sequel. Actually, the main difference between Max Payne 2 and its predecessor involves more of the circumstances under which the games arrived than anything existing in the games themselves. The original was victim to multiple development delays and spent years in the making, but, despite being a relatively brief experience, it was a thrilling, stylish, violent action game that was ultimately worth the wait. The sequel, on the other hand, was announced just months ago and hit store shelves on exactly the day it was supposed to. This new Max Payne, billed as "a film noir love story," was certainly worth the wait too, though this time, the wait was brief. As long as you go into it without expecting a dramatically different--or longer--gameplay experience than the original, Max Payne 2 won't disappoint. On its own merits, it's a stunning shooter that's got a bit too much plot and is over too soon, though it's still incredibly intense and, by all means, worth experiencing.

Hot beats abound, especially on the dancefloor-ready "Up All Night," first single "I Call it Love," and "Why," but the overall vibe is pure Lionel, from the Commodores-esque "What You Are" to the "Penny Lover"-like prettiness of "Coming Home," to the wavy steel-guitar-laced lament that is "Outta My Head." Here are hooks that sink in instantly and vocals that float as if grafted to a bar of Ivory soap. Here, too, is a record unafraid of reaching artistically; if 2004's Just For You was dominated by classy but predictable ballads, Coming Home represents Mr. Richie as the trailblazing musical titan generations of fans fell in love by. Turn the volume up to 11 and make room on the couch--a hotter homecoming won't happen this year.

The members of Lynyrd Skynyrd played by their own set of rules. Fiercely defensive of their Southern heritage, Ronnie Van Zant and company reflexively lashed out when they thought they'd been slurred. This two-disc overview presents a band with a broader agenda than one might imagine. Yes, this is state-of-the-'70s electric boogie, but it's three-guitar-strong rock with genuine subject matter.
