#11: Music : Ozzy Osbourne - Randy Rhoads Tribute (WITH TAB GUITARS) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 6 February 2009 | Views: 1942 |
|
|
| |
Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Randy Rhoads was a technical genius on his instrument, but that's only half the story. Rhoads shaped the direction of Osbourne's first two post-Sabbath recordings, Diary of a Madman and Blizzard of Ozz, which still stand as his best solo studio albums. Rhoads also was capable of pulling the best out of Osbourne onstage, a notable accomplishment in itself. This live set was released five years after Rhoads's death in a bizarre plane accident, and it's still a striking reminder of what was lost. Osbourne and company run through the Blizzard album in its entirety, adding a few tunes from Diary, and the Sabbath classics "Iron Man," "Children of the Grave," and "Paranoid." The highlights are Rhoads's guitar freakout on "Suicide Solution" and studio outtakes of his solo acoustic showcase, "Dee." Here was a classically trained guitarist that was interested in incorporating brilliant and complex guitar arraingments with popular music. You know, a lot of players sound great in the studio, when they can triple track their recordings, but here, Rhoads shreds in fluid beauty, live and in person. Just incredible playing. |

#12: Music : OZZY OSBOURNE - The Ultimate Sin (+TAB GUITARS) |

The Ultimate Sin is an album by Ozzy Osbourne. It was released on February 22, 1986, and it was remastered and re-issued on August 22, 1995. This album was certified double p latinum on October 26, 1994. This album features guitarist Jake E. Lee (formerly of Mickey Ratt, Rough Cutt and Dio). This is the only Ozzy album to feature bassist Phil Soussan - who wrote the album's U.S. hit single "Shot in the Dark" - and the first to feature drummer Randy Castillo, who has since died due to cancer. Lyrics were largely written by long-time Ozzy bass player Bob Daisley, who was also present during the initial writing sessions. Daisley left after having a disagreement with Ozzy, which led to the hiring of Soussan. He was also not credited as a co-writer on the initial 1986 pressing of the album. This was corrected for each pressing after that. The Ultimate Sin was Ozzy's highest charting studio album. The RIAA awarded the album P latinum status on May 14 1986, soon after its release; it was awarded Double P latinum status on October 26, 1994. In April 2002, the album was deleted from the Ozzy catalog and is no longer being reproduced, due to legal issues between Ozzy and Soussan over the song "Shot in the Dark." The most recent issue was the 1995 remastered CD, which, unlike other more recent Osbourne reissues, does not include any bonus tracks. It is, however, still for sale in the iTunes Store. |

#13: Music : Indonesian Pop Kroncong - VA |

Indonesia is culturally diverse, and every one of the 18,000 islands has its own cultural and artistic history and character. This results hundreds of different forms of music, which often accompanies dance and theater. The musics of Java, Sumatra, Bali, Flores and other islands have been documented and recorded, and research by Indonesian and international scholars is ongoing. Kroncong has been evolving since the arrival of the Portuguese, who brought with them European instruments. By the early 1900s, it was considered a low-class urban music. This changed in the 1930s, when the rising Indonesian film industry began incorporating kroncong, and then even more so in the mid- to late 1940s, when it became associated with the struggle for independence. Kroncong (pronounced "kronchong") is the name of a ukulele-type instrument and an Indonesian musical style that typically makes use of the kroncong, a flute, and a female singer. #14: Music : VAN HALEN - 1984 (Remastered, TAB GUITARS+MP3) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 21 December 2008 | Views: 1440 |
|
|
| |
1984 was a successful record not only because it contained solid, catchy hard rock, but also because it incorporated synthesizers into the mix, the first metal album to do so to any serious extent. Although the advances in electronic music make this material sound dated now, it's still a highlight of Van Halen's career. Songs like "Jump" contain a pop element that gave 1984 mainstream appeal, and David Lee Roth turned the frontman role into an art form on songs such as "Panama," "Hot for Teacher," "Drop Dead Legs," and "I'll Wait." To a large extent, it was 1984 that set the standard for '80s pop metal, and David Lee Roth who set the standard (or takes the blame, depending on your point of view) for the aggressively good-time attitude most pop-metal bands took for their own. This album was the last one that David Lee Roth recorded with Van Halen and he definitely left on a high note. This is a very fun album. This song seems to have set the tone for a lot of bands in the years following. Eddie Van Halen, well-known for his guitar prowess but also a classically-trained pianist, used 1984 as an opportunity to take the band into different territory. Eddie Van Halen's keyboard playing is more prominent on 1984 than on any prior Van Halen album, Additionally, 1984 was the first Van Halen album to be recorded at Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150. The studio lent its name to Van Halen's next album, the first with former Montrose vocalist/ guitarist and solo artist Sammy Hagar. |

#15: Music : DEEP PURPLE - Perfect Strangers (Remastered, MP3+TAB GUITARS) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 16 December 2008 | Views: 1804 |

|
| |
This album is a landmark for Deep Purple, and is aptly titled--the band was reunited only by pressure from their public, making them no longer musical mates, but "Perfect Strangers." Not withstanding, the group were not strangers at all when it came to their common goal of making music. The sound of the musicianship on this album could not be immitated; every songs on this comeback album is too good.. Blackmore's trademark guitar is facinating, Glover's bass reaches brilliant madness, Gillan's barbed wire voice soars, as Jon Lord's organ is a highlight as usual, and drummer Ian Paice remains out of his head. A good rock album from the fathers of Rock ! The duelling soloes between Jon and Ritchie is way beyound great, and Roger's and little Ian's bass and drums keeps this train on the tracks. Big Ian's vocals are amazing, and this album proves that he is one of the greatest rocksingers of all time. And for being close to 25 years old, it still sounds great. A good music to introduce younger listeners to these guys...it's old, but not that old. Overall, the remastered PERFECT STRANGERS is one hard rock that you don't want to miss. |

#16: Music : SAMMY HAGAR - Cosmic Universal Fashion (New Album Release: November 18, 2008) |

No doubt about it. Sammy puts on the best live shows ever, but most of his success is from his old stuff. The two songs with Neil Schon jam big time and riff master Billy Duffy (The Cult) churns out another one on Loud! Overall, the cd is very solid and Sammy's voice just gets better with age. Is this guy really in his 60's? Sammy Hagar is still THE RED ROCKER, with this new cd he is doing a great job at it. LYRICS? Who listens to Sammy for his lyrics anyway. LISTEN TO HIS VOICE! this one just simply ROCKS! This albumn really does rock, is really an excellent tune! The song that completely tune LOUD The Red Rocker has been pretty consistent since leaving Van Halen back in 1996, releasing a new album every few years. For the most part they've been pretty good; even if they weren't classics there'd be at least a couple of songs fans of old-school 70s/80s rock would like. The hard-rocking "Ten 13" (2000) and the Jimmy Buffet-esque "Livin' it Up" (2006) were especially good. After parting ways with vocalist DAVID LEE ROTH, the remaining members of the band Van Halen contacted many potential replacements. Given Eddie's appreciation of Montrose and his car mechanic's suggestion, the band auditioned and quickly hired Hagar to fill the opening. With Hagar at the front, VAN HALEN produced four multi-p latinum, |

#18: E-Books : Jimi Hendrix Note For Note |
 |

When I first got permission to proceed with the Hendrix book from Jimi's estate, I was thrilled by the prospect of working directly with Jimi's classic original recordings. Everybody is familiar with the legendary world of Jimi's fantastic public image, and the tremendous esteem in which he is held by musicians around the world, but I saw my chance to write a book dissecting his music to be an opportunity to delve into a private world never before explored. This book was the first of its kind, and I am very proud of the fact that I was there to bring the first exact note-for-note transcriptions of Jimi's music to a very hungry audience. The very first minute I sat down to actually figure out Purple Haze I realized I was already submerged a very rarefied realm where I was no longer struggling with theory. My job was to interpret raw expression on the instrument by a master. I was already familiar with the boxes, but what I witnessed was the immediate transcendence of a student's perception. I was instantly transported into the world of re lating a finished vision. As I worked to create each song's transcription, I knew that the student would also have an identical recording of Jimi's guitarwork on their desktop along side the book. This changed everything as far as my approach to teaching: the focus was now on the nuance of a prerecorded style. I could sense that I was using the same recordings that Jimi made famous in a brand new way. Privately making the book in my studio, I was the first party to realize that the cold transcriptions would serve as a sort of sterile compression, until they were opened at a future point in the student's world. Once "decompressed" the transcriptions would also be afforded the same specialized view into Jimi's world. |

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne (born December 3, 1948) is the lead vocalist of the pioneering English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, a multi-p latinum, award-winning successful solo artist and the star of the reality show, The Osbournes. Considered by many to be the "Godfather of Heavy Metal, he has enjoyed a career that has now spanned four decades. He was born in Aston, Birmingham, England and spent most of his early life there. Osbourne reportedly suffered from learning difficulties (claiming to be dyslexic ), however he did like music and took part in school plays. He left school at 15 and was then employed as a construction site labourer, He also spent a few weeks in Winson Green Prison, when he was unable to pay a fine after being found guilty of Breaking and Entering a clothes shop. Osbourne would later form a band with classmate Tony Iommi after he auditioned for a lead singer. To distinguish themselves from the norm, Iommi and his partners decided to play a heavy blues-inspired style of music laced with gloomy lyrics. One day during rehearsals, the band noticed people queuing up outside a cinema where a horror film was being shown, and bassist Geezer Butler observed how curious it is that people like to be frightened. The film these fellows were waiting to see was the Mario Bava-directed Black Sabbath. After reading an occult book that Osbourne had let Butler borrow, Butler had a dream of a dark figure at the end of his bed. Afterwards, Butler wrote the lyrics to "Black Sabbath", one of their first songs, in a darker vein. It was the prototype of the songs that became their main style later in their career |

#20: Music : G'N'R-Use Your Illusion2(TAB+MP3) |

|

The Use Your Illusion albums were a stylistic turning point for Guns N' Roses. In addition, Use Your Illusion II is more political than most of their previous one. Each of the Use Your Illusion albums have been certified 7x p latinum. Spader Music Magazine listed the album in one of its greatest albums column. It was also #1 on the UK chart for a single week. Use Your Illusion II is a shining example of a suddenly successful band getting it all wrong and letting its ambitions run wild. On the other hand, when Guns N' Roses were good, they were very, very good, and some of the material on this album is unsurpassable. A kickass album and this might have been considered the best album of all time Use Your Illusion II is more serious and ambitious than I. Featuring no less than four songs that run over six minutes, II is heavy on epics, whether it's the charging funk metal of "Locomotive," the antiwar "Civil War," or the multi-part "Estranged |
