TTC - Zero to Infinity A History of Numbers
TTC - Zero to Infinity: A History of Numbers | 6.79 GB
Course No. 1499 (24 lectures, 30 minutes/lecture) | Taught by Edward B. Burger
Williams College | Ph.D., The University of Texas at Austin

What is your definition of number?
The question is a challenging one because defining the abstract idea of number is extremely difficult. More than 2,500 years ago, the great number enthusiast Pythagoras described number as "the first principle, a thing which is undefined, incomprehensible, and having in itself all numbers." Even today, we still struggle with the notion of what numbers mean.

TTC Discrete Mathematics
TTC Discrete Mathematics | 4.52 GB
Video Lectures | Xvid 640x480 29.97fps | MP3 - 128Kbps | 24 lectures, 30 minutes per lecture
Taught by Arthur T. Benjamin | Harvey Mudd College | Ph.D., The Johns Hopkins University

Welcome to Discrete Mathematics, a subject that is off the beaten track that most of us followed in school but that has vital applications in computer science, cryptography, engineering, and problem solving of all types.
Most of the mathematics taught after elementary school is aimed at preparing students for one subject—calculus, which is the mathematics of how things grow and change continuously, like waves in the water or clouds in the sky. Discrete mathematics, on the other hand, deals with quantities that can be broken into neat little pieces, like pixels on a computer screen, the letters or numbers in a password, or directions on how to drive from one place to another.

WaveArts TubeSaturator VST DX RTAS v1.00
WaveArts TubeSaturator VST DX RTAS v1.00 | 5.43 MB

Tube Saturator is the world’s most accurate real time tube amp plug-in. Unlike other tube simulators, which use radically simplified models, Tube Saturator uses state of the art circuit simulation technology to capture every nuance of an analog circuit. With circuit simulation, the analog schematic completely defines the signal processing. The schematic is converted into a system of non-linear differential equations which is solved at each sampling period, in realtime. That’s mathematical talk for “it sounds exactly like the analog circuit”.

The circuit simulation technology is extremely CPU intensive, and hence we are only able to simulate very simple circuits. Tube Saturator is in fact a basic circuit consisting of a Baxandall type three-band EQ feeding two 12AX7 triode preamp stages. It’s similar to preamp stages you’d find in a guitar amp, but it is by no means a complete guitar amplifier model, that would be way too expensive to simulate even with today’s fast CPUs. However, it is extremely accurate, and hence you can get the same distortion and tonal characteristics that you’d expect from a real tube preamp.

Wolfram Mathematica 7.0 Portable

Wolfram Mathematica 7.0 Portable | 603Mb

Wolfram Mathematica provides you with the world’s largest collection of algorithms in a single system each able to operate across the widest applicable scope of numeric, symbolic, or graphical input. Mathematica’s numerics support any precision or number size across all functions, in contrast to the typical fixed 16-digit limitation found in other computing systems. Without this you may be unable to produce answers accurate even to a small number of digits, as the internal workings of many calculations require much higher-precision input than they produce as output. Functions or data, discrete objects, diagrams, images, or annotations Mathematica’s visualization engine powers professional-quality static or dynamic representations, automatically optimizing the balance between computational efficiency and visual sophistication.
