Penumbra: Overture offers intuitive and challenging gameplay using immersive mouse movement interaction. This allows the player to open, pull, push and in other ways manipulate the game objects in a motion similar to doing it in real life. This type of interaction has never before been used in a game and makes the puzzles a lot more fun and the game more immersive. You are on your own, except for some dangerous creatures and will survive and succeed on your guile. There will not be any direct character conversations and you learn about what is going on through radio transmissions, notes, and books and by examining the environment. Penumbra: Black Plague is not about mindless violence, although there will be occasions when you will have to face a number of truly horrifying and unpleasant creatures and combat is implemented in such a way that an enemy is very hard to kill. Trying to use a weapon is really a last resort. At best the player will manage to knock the enemy out for a short time period allowing her/him to escape and hide. Various objects in the environment will also be useful for stopping enemies. Rocks can be thrown and heavy boxes can be pushed over enemies. There are also inventive actions like being able to break a beam and thereby letting large rocks fall onto an enemy. These are just a few measures you may have to undertake to get out of a dangerous encounter. |

| |
MP3 | 6 Tracks | 320 KBPS | Genre: Progressive Rock | 89 MB Only Rush could have pulled this off, and only in the '70s. 2112--the title suite of the band's 1976 breakthrough album--is a comically pretentious, futuristic rock opera written by a nerdy drummer and sung by a whiny-voiced geek. It also happens to be a great piece of rock & roll that lifts the listener through a variety of moods and textures from genteel acoustic ("Oracle") to thrilling metal ("The Temples of Syrinx"). Perhaps realizing that they had taken conceptualism about as far as it could go, even these guys backed off on the epic hero stuff for later releases. 2112 still stands as one of the great signposts of the prog-rock era. Tracklist: 1. "2112" – 20:37 * I: " Overture" – 4:32 * II: "The Temples of Syrinx" – 2:13 * III: "Discovery" – 3:29 * IV: "Presentation" – 3:42 * V: "Oracle: The Dream" – 2:00 * VI: "Soliloquy" – 2:21 * VII: "Grand Finale" – 2:14 |

#24: Music : YNGWIE MALMSTEEN - Marching Out (TAB GUITARS+MP3) |

From the early to mid 80s, heavy metal took off as a new and expanding form of what rock music was truly capable of doing. First in the 80s there was the new wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) scene, followed by a split direction in the mid 80s with the lighter glam metal and the heavier thrash metal movements. However, there was also a category which falls right inbetween the two called Power Metal. It combines the themes and heaviness of real heavy metal bands with the melodic and mainstream stylings of glam metal into an unbeatable synthesis. Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force was one of the forerunners of modern power metal, appearing in the mid 80s with an excellent trio of masterpiece albums. Unlike thrash, NWOBHM, and glam, power metal was a genre which did not take off in America nor England, but rather it thrived in lesser countries of Europe such as Finland and Sweden. To this day, power metal is the ONLY remaining form of true metal music, not that rap/metal poser junk which plagues modern American radio. Rising Force consists of members Jeff Scott Soto on vocals, Yngwie J. Malmsteen on guitars, Marcel Jacob on bass, Anders Johansson on drums, and Jens Johansson on keyboards (for those who didn't know, Jens eventually joined Dio and then in the mid 90s teamed up with Stratovarius). Everyone performs reasonably well on here, from Soto's soaring vocals to Jens Johansson's melodic keyboard textures and harpsichord solos (which he would be later famous for in Stratovarius). While everyone plays well, IT'S YNGWIE'S GUITAR PLAYING THAT TRULY STANDS OUT PHENOMENALLY. |

#25: Music : Pink Floyd - Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd (2001) |
| |
| The Author: Marcus1989 | 5 December 2008 | Views: 3336 |
| |
MP3 | 2 Discs (13+13) | 128 KBPS | Covers Included | Genre: Progressive Rock | 141 MB Echoes is a double-CD collection of some of Pink Floyd's best songs. It's also a fascinating document of the band's history. They began life as Syd Barrett's phantasmagoric plaything before clasping the wings of Icarus and ascending toward the sun on an epic space-rock odyssey, eventually turning left once they reached the dark side of the moon and burning up on reentry, crash-landing on every earthlings' home hi-fi. And it's all here--30 years of the Floyd's awesome back catalog trimmed down to two handsome CDs. It's worth remembering that, despite a fondness for pyrotechnics, Pink Floyd were never a prog-rock band. Sure, some of their songs are a bit long, and they never released singles (at least not for 11 years), but the same could be said for Led Zeppelin. Clinically devoid of the faux-classical overtures and vainglorious musicianship of that era, Pink Floyd were a pole apart; Meddle's epic maritime tone poem "Echoes" remains the Floyd's apogee. But here, on this collection, "the albatross" which "hangs motionless upon the air" has had its wings clipped--seven full minutes are missing, but you'd never be able to tell. The sonar bleeps, the screeching seagulls, the howling winds are all retained, and whoever wielded the editorial axe, Eugene, did so carefully. |
