Plants and zombies aren't exactly what you'd call natural enemies, given the latter's single-minded hunger for brains and the former's complete lack thereof. NASCAR Thunder is a competent game that looks like it's only going to get better as time goes on.
In its latest horsepower-packed ode to stock cars, NASCAR Thunder 2004, Electronic Arts journeys to a PC world blissfully free of a solid competitor. Papyrus' groundbreaking NASCAR Racing series quietly departed earlier this year--an unfortunate and much-mourned victim of spiraling licensing costs--and games like Hasbro's NASCAR Heat are now just a distant memory. RTCWs plot is a mishmash of cheesy cut-scenes and half-baked mission objectives involving the Nazis? attempts to create zombie supersoldiers during World War II. Because of the weak story and the fairly predictable enemy A.I., the game doesn?t forge the enthralling feel of games like Halo or Half-Life.

In Special Forces: Nemesis Strike, you fight terrorists. That's it. That's all the plot you need to know, because that's as much of it as makes sense. You play two different characters throughout the adventure: Raptor, a scenery-chewing commando type that falls somewhere between Jesse "The Body" Ventura from Predator and Thunder in Paradise-era Hulk Hogan (in terms of action-hero bravado and credibility), and Stealth Owl, a predictable copycat of just about every other stealth action hero of the last decade. As these two knuckleheads, you penetrate various locales that have been overrun by terrorists (gasp!) and shoot them all in the face--over and over again--occasionally stopping to fight a ludicrously easy boss, rescue a painfully dumb artificially intelligent hostage, or drive a poorly designed vehicle.

If the generic sci-fi story of the original Halo games was obscured by their ambition and scale compared to older shooters, it certainly isn't in a 2D 16-bit era landscape. You control the suited space marine, and shoot your way through a variety of forgettable alien onslaughts.

The graphics, as mentioned, are very 1990s, and although they have clearly been created with some care they seem uninspired. Control is via the keyboard and mouse, aiming and firing with the mouse, and movement and other things with the keyboard. It's quite a good system, and you can configure the keys as you like, which is useful.

If you're new to this particular subgenre of virtual racing, you will find that IndyCar Series delivers enough action and challenge to keep you driving for some time to come.

IndyCar Series is not in the same frighteningly realistic realm of recent Papyrus and Electronic Arts road racing games. Praetorians is an excellent choice for real-time strategy fans looking for a stiff and satisfying challenge.
The game is set in the glory years of the Roman Empire during Julius Caesar's time at the helm of the Roman army in Gaul. Developed by Pyro Studios, known for the Commandos tactical strategy series, Praetorians features plenty of strategic depth in its gameplay and is a great choice for real-time strategy fans who are looking for an unusual alternative to conventional strategy games.

in Praetorians, you don't use or build individual units. Combat soldiers are organized into troops of up to 30; the disciplined armies of the Romans march in neat columns, while the more disorganized barbarians and Egyptians travel in unorganized groups. Praetorians lets you easily combine, divide, and even out the number of soldiers you have in each troop, so you can quickly fill out the numbers of a depleted battalion. If you look closely enough at your troops, you can see some minor graphical issues, such as the way mounted cavalry sometimes appear to be skating along the ground, but the unit animations do generally look impressive, especially when you see hundreds of legionnaires marching perfectly in step. Unfortunately, Praetorians' audio isn't quite as good; the in-game sound effects are adequate, but the between-mission cutscenes have rather poor voice acting. Praetorians also has a rather limited orchestral soundtrack, but at least it changes dynamically whenever you begin a battle.

An amazing great 3D tankgame

Sometimes you run across a game that just makes you say "Wow". Battle Tanks II is one of these. The effects, graphics, sound scheme, fluidity of gameplay, and design of this game is simply astounding.

On the main menu, you choose whether to play a quick game (no setup options) or a normal game where you can choose the landscape, difficulty, aiming method, game stlye, etc. You can also head over to the extensive Options menu to adjust the effects level, sound/music volume, and more.

In the game itself you find stunning physics and effects at incredible speeds. About 90% of the games submitted for the Easter contest ran somewhat slow on my computer at least once but this game is non-stop smooth. Flack, explosions, splashes, rubble, craters, and 20+ enemies all run like there was nothing to it.

Not only are the effects and speed of this game of the same caliber as the legendary Star Wraith series but also the controls. Besides being able to choose which force to be and which of three types of tanks you will operate you can also give 10 different commands to your forces which will automatically carry out your order as you attempt to wipe out the enemy forces.
