Device Physics of Narrow Gap Semiconductors
Publisher: Springer | Pages: 506 | 2009-10-23 | ISBN 1441910395 | PDF | 6 MB

Narrow gap semiconductors obey the general rules of semiconductor science, but often exhibit extreme features of these rules because of the same properties that produce their narrow gaps. Consequently these materials provide sensitive tests of theory, and the opportunity for the design of innovative devices. Narrow gap semiconductors are the most important materials for the preparation of advanced modern infrared systems.

#13: E-Books : Physics and Chemistry of Micro-Nanotribology, by Jianbin Luo

Physics and Chemistry of Micro-Nanotribology, by Jianbin Luo

Physics and Chemistry of Micro-Nanotribology, by Jianbin Luo

ASTM International | January 2008 | English | ISBN: 0803170068 | PDF | 290 Pages | 7,28 Mb

Description : The roots of micro/nanotribology can be found deep in conventional concepts of tribology. The recognition in the last century of elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication EHL as the principal mode of fluid-film lubrication in many machine components enabled reliable design procedures to be developed for both highly stressed and low elastic modulus machine elements. Towards the end of the last century submicron film thicknesses were recognized in many EHL applications. It is now being asked how EHL concepts can contribute to understanding the behavior of even thinner lubricating films. The answer is to be found in the subject widely known as micro/nanotribology. As early as 1929 Tomlinson considered the origin of friction and the mechanism of energy dissipation in terms of an independent oscillator model. This import ant approach provided the foundation for many present studies of atomic scale friction. The rapid development of micro/nanotribology in recent decades is certainly a significant and fascinating aspect of modern tribology. New scientific instruments, impressive modeling, and computer simulations have contributed to the current fascination with nanotechnology. A remarkable indication of these developments is evident in the boom of publications. Nevertheless, the knowledge and understanding of micro/nanotribology remains incomplete, although several books related to the subject have now been published. The interdisciplinary nature of tribology persists in studies of microscopic scale tribology. Individual investigators contribute to specific aspects of the field as they help to develop a general picture of the new field of micro/nanotribology, thus adding additional bricks to the house of truth. The present book is written by authors whose backgrounds are mainly in mechan ical engineering. They present individual contributions to the development of microscopic tribology, with significant effort being made to form a bridge between fundamental studies and applications.

Flight Physics: Essentials of Aeronautical Disciplines and Technology, with Historical Notes, by E. Torenbeek

Springer; 1 edition | August 1, 2009 | English | ISBN: 1402086636 | PDF | 540 Pages | 17,2 Mb

Description : This textbook gives an introduction, with extensive historical notes, to the principal disciplines of aeronautics. The principles of applied aerodynamics, aircraft propulsion, flight performances, stability and control of conventional subsonic aircraft are augmented by overviews of helicopter technology and high speed flight. Overviews of the history of aviation and basic aeronautical terms are followed by descriptions of the major disciplines involved in aircraft flight mechanics. These are discussed in five chapters dealing with low speed aerodynamic properties (lift and drag) of wings, aircraft engines and propulsion, performances, and stability and control of aircraft. The last two chapters deal with helicopter aerodynamics and flight mechanics, and complications of high speed (transonic and supersonic) flight. In order to keep the introductory character there is an equal amount of basic formulas and explanatory text. Although problems and their solutions are not presented, there are plenty of opportunities for lecturers to extract material for practicing and examination.

Fundamental Formulas of Physics, Vol. 1, 2
407 pages | Mar 4, 1960 | PDF | 21.4 MB + 25.42 MB | RS

Well written descriptions; and well thought-out examples are given when needed. I have both volumes and they have been a great resource to me while developing Modelling Software. Multiple Author’s contributions have resulted in a little overlapping, but there was one benefit to this
- seeing adapted forms of the same formula.

I also like the book: “The Cambridge Handbook of Physics Formulas (230 pages)” which is 40 years newer. But have found myself referring this two-volume-set the most recently (totaling 741 pages) because: more fields & cross-fields are covered, great examples, smaller hand-held size, jammed packed prerequisite math formulas & data (153 pages) in first four chapters including: Pre/Post Calculus, Fourier Series, Green Function, Vectors, Tensors, etc. (good brush up - been out of college few years) Also locating a particular formula is quick because of the Large Detailed Split-page Contents at beginning of both volumes (20 pages each) and also helpful - chapter names are printed on both covers.

Chaos: The New Map for Traders by Bill Williams (Video)

85 minute video Learn how to analyze any market of any time frame and discover where to buy, sell, pyramid, take profits and stop and reverse. Plus, you’ll find out why giving in puts you in alignment with the market and learn how to use MACD to trade spreads more profitably.

Now you can understand what chaos is and how you can use it to boost your trading profits. Learn how to analyze any chart in ten seconds and how you can see “pit action” on your own trading screen.

Learn why the science of Chaos Theory draws a more accurate picture of market action and intention than other approaches and how you can apply this theory to your trading and daily life. This opportunity allows you to gain the benefit of years of experience in two hours while learning Profitunity’s unique “10 second analysis". You will learn why over 90% of all traders lose money consistently while 50% of all contracts make money on each price change, even though traders rank in the top 10 percent of intelligence of the general population.

Bill believes that most traders lose because they use the wrong logic maps. Linear techniques from classical physics and the most common technical indicators simply don’t make profits in non-linear markets. He discusses which techniques to use (only three to trade the Profitunity technique) and which to avoid. You will learn why the usual axioms (“buy low, sell high” and “follow the trend”) throw you off the profit trail and why concepts such as “bullish/bearish consensus", “oversold" and “overbought” do not really exist. To continuously trade profitably, you must “stop the lies and listen to the truth.” In trading, your brain is not your friend.

#27: E-Books : Michael Crichton - TIMELINE (PDF+AUDIO)

Michael Crichton - TIMELINE (PDF+AUDIO)

Timeline is a science fiction novel by Michael Crichton that was published in November 1999. It tells the story of historians who travel to the Middle Ages thanks to the work of a brilliant yet unprincipled entrepreneur who plans to use the technology to enhance historical tourist attractions. The book follows in Crichton's long history of combining technical details and action in his books, addressing quantum physics and time travel.

The novel spawned Timeline Computer Entertainment, a computer game developer that created the Timeline PC game published by Eidos Interactive in 2000. A movie called Timeline based on the book was released in 2003.

Plot summary
In 1999, Professor Edward Johnston heads a team of historians and archaeologists studying a site in the Dordogne region of France where the medieval towns of Castelgard and La Roque stood. Suspicious of the detailed knowledge of the site shown by ITC (their funder), Johnston flies to ITC's headquarters in New Mexico to investigate. Soon the archaeologists begin to uncover modern objects in the ruins, recognizing among them lens of Johnston's eyeglasses. Researchers Chris Hughes, Kate Erickson, André Marek (a medieval re-enactor), and David Stern fly to ITC. Here they meet Robert Doniger, the founder of ITC. They learn that Johnston traveled back in time to the year 1357, to vist the site they were excavating, but has not returned as expected. Doniger insists that they travel back in order to retrieve Johnston. They are persuaded to do so and undergo the matter deconstruction process of transferring their physical selves back to 1357.

#28: E-Books : Chemitry Books Collection

Chemitry Books Collection

Chemistry is the scientific study of interaction of chemical substances that are constituted of atoms or the subatomic components that make up atoms: protons, electrons and neutrons. Atoms combine to produce molecules or crystals. Chemistry is often called "the central science" because it connects the other natural sciences, such as astronomy, physics, material science, biology, and geology.
The genesis of chemistry can be traced to certain practices, known as alchemy, which had been practiced for several millennia in various parts of the world, particularly the middle east.

The transformations that are studied in chemistry are a result of interaction either between different chemical substances or between matter and energy. Traditional chemistry involves study of interactions between substances in a chemistry laboratory using various forms of laboratory glassware.

Energy and entropy considerations are invariably important in almost all chemical studies. Chemical substances are classified in terms of their structure, phase as well as their chemical compositions. They can be analysed using the tools of chemical analysis, e.g. spectroscopy and chromatography.

Physics of Amorphous Metals

Wiley-VCH | 2001-05-15 | ISBN: 3527403159 | 296 pages | PDF | 2.04 MB

The discovery of bulk metallic glasses has led to a large increase in the industrial importance of amorphous metals, and this is expected to continue. This book is the first to describe the theoretical physics of amorphous metals, including the important theoretical development of the last 20 years.

The renowned authors stress the universal aspects in their description of the phonon or magnon low-energy excitations in the amorphous metals, e.g. concerning the remarkable consequences of the properties of these excitations for the thermodynamics at low and intermediate temperatures. Tunneling excitations - another universal aspect of amorphous systems and responsible for many of their properties - is also intensively treated. Although the book is focused on analytical approaches, it also describes the numerical calculation of the atomic structure, the electronic excitations, and the itinerant magnetic properties of amorphous metallic alloys, while considering modern applications.

While both theorists and experimentalist interested in amorphous metals will profit from this book, it will also be useful supplementary reading in courses on solid-state physics and material sciences.
