#2: E-Books : The Stock Trader - How I Make a Living Trading Stocks by Tony Oz

The Stock Trader - How I Make a Living Trading Stocks by Tony Oz

"Put your money where your mouth is," came the challenge. So he did. Best selling author, Tony Oz, was challenged by Tim Bourquin and Jim Sugarman, founders of the International Online Trading Expo, to prove that his stock trading strategies work, that he could consistently take higher-than-average returns out of the market. To meet the challenge, Tony kept a trading diary for four weeks, documenting each and every trade he made.

The simple story that unfolded turned out to be of much greater consequence than anyone could have foreseen, as Tony chronicled a first-hand description of one of the worst stock market crashes in recent memory. Tony was already into his four-week trading challenge at the peak of the Nasdaq market, just before the Crash of April 2000. Having no idea at the time that he was in the middle of a “correction” that would wipe out over two trillion dollars of stockholder's equity, Tony managed to earn respectable profits each week, and had only a few losing days.

What is truly extraordinary is that all trades were on the Long side - not one trade was selling Short in a rapidly declining bear market. The results of the challenge are detailed in this exciting new book. Inside, Tony tells how he chose a broker, set up an account, and then drew a handsome income from the stock market each week, earning a 56% return on his capital in one month - more than most investors earn in a year. Over 100 round trip trades are recorded, charted and explained in a daily trading journal. Tony reveals what he was thinking and feeling, and he explains each trade's strategy, and his profits and losses - all the while walking the reader through his simple methodology and simple rules. At the end of each week, he ordered a check from his broker to “sweep” his account, and prevent compounding of profits. “After all,” Tony explains in the book, “Friday is payday."

Trading Pairs: Capturing Profits and Hedging Risk with Statistical Arbitrage Strategies by Mark Whistler

Traditionally, when you either buy or sell a stock, you hope that it moves in the one direction that results in a profit. However, at times, this strategy leaves you with a "naked" position that is simply at the mercy of the markets. Thus, pairs trading offers a unique alternative and allows you, the individual investor, a way to "hedge" positions. The goal is to protect your portfolio from dramatic market upswings or downturns, while finding stock relationship inequalities--all in an effort to make money.

This informative, yet easy-to-read guide begins by laying a small foundation that will help you form a solid understanding of pairs trading. You’ll be introduced to market basics such as liquidity ratios and shares outstanding.

You’ll also receive a briefing on how both fundamental and technical analyses tie into pairs trading. Once the basics are covered and you’re familiar with pairs terminology, you’ll learn how to put this profitable technique to use in your trading endeavors.

#6: E-Books : Reminiscences of a Stock Operator by Edwin Lefèvre (A biography of Jesse Livermore)

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator by Edwin Lefèvre (A biography of Jesse Livermore)

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is the thinly disguised biography of Jesse Livermore, a remarkable character who first started speculating in New England bucket shops at the turn of the century. Livermore, who was banned from these shady operations because of his winning ways, soon moved to Wall Street where he made and lost his fortune several times over. What makes this book so valuable are the observations that Lefèvre records about investing, speculating, and the nature of the market itself.

For example:
"It never was my thinking that made the big money for me. It always was my sitting. Got that? My sitting tight! It is no trick at all to be right on the market. You always find lots of early bulls in bull markets and early bears in bear markets. I've known many men who were right at exactly the right time, and began buying or selling stocks when prices were at the very level which should show the greatest profit. And their experience invariably matched mine--that is, they made no real money out of it. Men who can both be right and sit tight are uncommon."

If you've ever spent weekends and nights puzzling over whether to buy, sell, or hold a position in whatever investment--be it stock, bonds, or pork bellies, you'll be glad that you read this book. Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is full of lessons that are as relevant today as they were in 1923 when the book was first published. Highly recommended.

#10: E-Books : When the Dow Breaks by Donald L. Cassidy

When the Dow Breaks by Donald L. Cassidy

In contrast to Wall Street's hold-forever theorists, author Donald Cassidy believes we can understand stock volatility, and, subsequently, dodge market downturns and capitalize on bargain-basement prices. Buying and "holding forever," writes Cassidy, "is like suggesting you wear the same clothing year-round despite known radical changes in temperature and snow depth."

By learning the history of market patterns and understanding that emotions drive prices, he continues, rational investors can profit greatly from the mistakes of the masses.

Of course, predicting stock runs is easier said than done. Cassidy attempts to do so by charting market patterns from 1950 through the 1990s, profiling market and individual stock behavior at their peaks as well as their valleys. As for risky markets, he observes these patterns: "Two years or longer with no correction of at least 10 percent in the major averages; a long period of economic expansion already in place; large numbers of new companies going public."

Cassidy, a senior research analyst for Lipper Inc., also pays special attention to the psychology of investing, especially that of dealing with a market on the brink of change. He cites internal factors (greed, ego, perfectionism) and external influences (media, friends, brokers) that influence emotions, and, ultimately, drive markets. Finally, he offers clever ways to manage taxes as investors--ideally historically aware, rational investors--shift their portfolios toward low-risk, high-reward results.

#11: E-Books : Dow 40000 by David Elias

Dow 40000 by David Elias

In this book, Elias relates finance to the changing demographics of America and the rest of the world. His predictions about the future global economy are based on solid research and historical comparison. He focuses on Blue chip investing and gives Solid low-mid level risk advice.

He actually gives recommendations on specific companies. His diversified portfolios allow for investors to invest using his advice with some freedom. This is the best book on the market and investing I have ever read. A must read for newcomers and veterans.

This book discusses some of the major trends occurring in the world likely to affect stock values and gives some good investing advice.

Call David Elias an optimist. He expects the Dow Jones Industrial Average to hit 40,000 by the year 2016, and he stands by his prediction, even in the wake of the stock market down turn. His target doesn't sound so outlandish if you consider that, in order to hit 40,000, the Dow must rise by only 9% annually in the next 16 years. (Investors already have accustomed themselves to much grander annual returns.) However, Elias, an investment adviser, might strike some readers as a bit too cheery. He says interest rates and inflation will remain low for a decade, and he predicts that the developing world will goose profits by buying ever-increasing quantities of products from U.S. companies. Elias also argues that the much-feared backlash from Baby Boomers pulling out of the market after they retire will prove a myth. While Elias' outlook is relentlessly buoyant, we [...] recommend his information to investors and his book's ripe conversational fodder to futurists and analysts.

#12: E-Books : Trading on Momentum by Ken Wolff

Trading on Momentum by Ken Wolff

The NASDAQ has reached a record 60 new highs in 1999, closing above the 4000 milestone. This record was the icing on the cake to a year of volatile victories for the NASDAQ, which experienced the largest one-year gain ever for a major market index. Momentum has never been more important. For example, the first day of tradingin 2000 saw the NASDAQ dropping close to 100 points before finishing the day with a significant gain, yet on the second day of trading, the NASDAQ experienced its worst point drop in history. This text shows traders how to profit consistently by recognizing when the market has changed, determining what has changed, and adapting their trading methods to this new environment.

Every second of every trading day, literally one-half of executed trades have the potential to generate immediate profits. In those brief moments following the trade, it isn't the fundamentals of each stock that changeit is the trading momentum. Traders who understand how to recognize and use this momentum can greatly increase their percentage of profitable tradesevery second of every trading day.

#14: E-Books : 30 Days to Market Mastery by Jacob Bernstein

30 Days to Market Mastery by Jacob Bernstein

The best thing to be gleaned here is the methodology itself. The methodology is first a setup, then a trigger, then follow through. A setup is a seasonal correlation or momentum divergence, as examples. Then a trigger gets you in the trade, like a stochastics crossover. Follow through is simply money management.

This book provides excellent clarity in finding potential trades, determining an appropriate entry and subsequently managing the trade. Momentum divergence is the main indicator and the methodology is clearly detailed in terms of the setup, the trigger and the follow through. Questions are included at the end of the chapters. It is not difficult to use the methodology on any charting software. The methods can be extended to utilize other similar indicators. Reading this book is a low risk proposition with major potential rewards.

This is definitely one book that any new trader should read.

An excellent book for new traders, 30 Days to Market Mastery outlines an easy-to-understand and easy-to-implement approach to learning how to trade. This book covers the fundamentals of how to structure trades in a disciplined fashion, so as to avoid vague decisions and acting on unclear trading signals. It also provides a number of strategies for entering and exiting the market in a way that maximizes the chances of making money and minimizes the potential for losing money. With this book as their guide, readers will learn the proper organizational, analytical, and behavioral skills that are vital to consistent success in trading. In 30 Days to Market Mastery each trading day contains a single lesson, and each lesson contains a quiz to help the reader master the material.

Bill believes that most traders lose because they use the wrong logic maps. Linear techniques from classical physics and the most common technical indicators simply don’t make profits in non-linear markets. He discusses which techniques to use (only three to trade the Profitunity technique) and which to avoid. You will learn why the usual axioms (“buy low, sell high” and “follow the trend”) throw you off the profit trail and why concepts such as “bullish/bearish consensus", “oversold" and “overbought” do not really exist. Secrets For Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets by Stan Weinstein

This book has completely changed by perspective on trading or investing (there's a difference). With either one, you will find this book VERY helpful and practical (recognizing breakouts, when to buy, when to sell, cycles of a stock's life, market timing, shorting stocks, establishing safeguards, various order types, etc.).

The book has a heavy emphasis on analyzing charts. This is a major plus, but it's very practical, not numbingly theoretical.

This is the best book on trading techniques that you have ever read. It is based on how to do "stage analysis," that is, looking at charts to determine whether a stock is going up, topping, declining, or bottoming out. The author stresses using stage analysis not only on individual stocks, but also on industry sectors as well as indexes like the Dow and Nasdaq.

Stan Weinstein's Secrets For Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets reveals his successful methods for timing investments to produce consistently profitable results.

Topics include:
* Stan Weinstein's personal philosophy on investing
* The ideal time to buy
* Refining the buying process
* Knowing when to sell

Predict Market Swings With Technical Analysis by Michael McDonald

A fresh perspective on predicting the market

The experience of Wall Street investment manager and analyst Michael McDonald offers a new perspective on how to navigate the turbulent ups and downs of the markets. His innovative approach to the stock market teaches investors how to use new investment strategies intended to replace the "buy and hold forever" strategies of yesterday. McDonald discusses what a "trading range" market is-a roller-coaster ride in which the market will neither gain nor lose much ground-and guides readers through this market with his proven investment strategies. This book provides an understandable way to make sense of the unpredictable stock market, taking into account more complex theories, including chaos and contrarian approaches. Along with his expert advice, McDonald presents four investing paradoxes that will help investors make smarter decisions now and predict where the market is heading, using his proven theories.

The efficient market theory concludes that stock prices are essentially random and unpredictable. So how do thousands of professionals earn a living each year on Wall Street by predicting stock prices? The answer is quite simple-by using techniques that allow for a stock market that can at times become predictable.

Let Wall Street financial consultant and market analyst Michael McDonald show you how to navigate the turbulent ups and downs of the market in Predict Market Swings with Technical Analysis. This fresh approach to trading using technical analysis will teach you how to trade the swings of the market by catching the upswings and selling just before major downswings.

The Micro Cap Investor by Richard Imperiale

Learn how today's smartest investors are discovering opportunities--and reaping profits--ahead of the Wall Street pros . . .

Wall Street research is often hesitant to focus on small companies. This creates a situation where many small high-quality companies go largely uncovered by Wall Street firms.

Let The Micro Cap Investor show you how to uncover today's most promising companies, and use the power of micro cap investing to dramatically improve your long-term investment performance.

Micro cap stocks are all but ignored by professional investors who can't risk losing their companies' clients--and their own careers--to the sudden volatility and price swings that are common to the micro cap market. But it is just that volatility, plus their proven record for outperforming large cap stocks over the long term, that makes micro caps perfect for independent investors looking for market-beating returns.
