C. F. W. Higham “Encyclopedia of Ancient Asian Civilizations" Facts on File | 2004-05 | ISBN: 0816046409 | 416 pages | PDF | 5,1 MB Beginning with an informative introduction that gives an overview of the major stands of Asian civilization from 5,000 B.C.E. to 1,100 C.E., this alphabetically arranged encyclopedia presents clear information on a wide variety of archaeological sites, significant persons, dynasties, and religious and other cultural practices. More than 900 articles cover Central and East Asia, the Southeastern Asian islands, the Indian subcontinent, and Japan and Korea. The entries are written clearly, though without much verve, and include cross-references in small capitals within the body. Entries for people begin with an italicized summary of the person's status and importance. Some articles include see also references at the end, with longer treatments generally terminating with lists of sources (usually two to six) for further reading. Weighting on the entries is appropriate, with shorter treatments for less significant people, places, or concepts (e.g., Chongdi, a Han emperor who ruled briefly) and more in-depth coverage for topics like Buddhism or Harappa (a great city of the Indus Valley Civilization). |

A surprisingly entertaining read if you want to understand this phenomenon, and how it's impacting our investments" --bloggingbuyouts "Orol examines how activist investors are impacting corporate boards through interviews with activist investors, money managers and corporate executives. He also predicts activist investors and corporate executives will soon be taking their battles online. Orol examines how activist investors are impacting corporate boards through interviews with activist investors, money managers and corporate executives. He also predicts activist investors and corporate executives will soon be taking their battles online. This thoroughly researched book is a good introduction to the arena of hedge fund activism. The chapters are sprinkled with examples from the activist playbook - and the tactics of companies dealing with an activist uprising. The writing is even-handed and the anectodes -- especially the several regarding public-pressure campaigns by activist managers -- make for engaging reading. Activist hedge fund managers represent a small part of the $1.5 trillion hedge fund industry, but their approach is causing a stir among traditional managers and the investment community because they are shaking up the corporate establishment and making money for their investors. These types of managers are here to stay and Extreme Value Hedging tells the story of their rise to power in the U.S. and how they are spreading their influential gospel around the globe to places like China, Ukraine, South Korea and Sweden. |

KMPlayer handles a wide range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots in many ways. The player provides both internal and external filters with a fully controlled environment in terms of connections to other splitters, decoders, audio/video transform filters and renderers without grappling with the DirectShow merit system. Internal filters are not registered to user's system to keep it from being messed up with system filters. The KMPlayer includes almost all the essential decoders required for media playback. Furthermore, to get beyond the limitation of internal decoders, the external ones such as commercial h.264 decoders or cyberlink/intervideo audio decoders can be specified, so that KMP works optimally by the users' own customization. Even though the KMP is based upon directshow structure, it supports Winamp, Realmedia and Quicktime by the internal logic. Thus, it is possible to specify where to try to connect firstly the media in preferences. |

| |
The Host (괴물, Goemul - "Monster") is a 2006 South Korean monster film, which also contains elements of comedy and drama films. The film was directed by Bong Joon-ho, who also co-wrote the screenplay, along with Baek Chul-hyun. Starring in the film as members of an unremarkable family thrust into the middle of extraordinary events were Song Kang-ho, Byeon Hee-bong, Park Hae-il, Bae Doona and Ko Ah-seong. The film has been accused of being anti-American, due to the portrayal of Americans in the film, and was lauded for this content in North Korea, a country where anti-American sentiment is high. Following the success of the director's previous work, Memories of Murder, The Host was heavily anticipated and hyped. It was released on a record number of screens in its home country on July 27, 2006 and broke box-office records throughout its domestic run. By the end of its run on November 8th, the film had been seen over 13 million times, making it the highest grossing South Korean film of all time, beating the previous leader The King and the Clown, which had attracted 12.3 million people. |

|
| |
English | 112 min | XVid 640x272 | 143 kbps vbr mp3 | 23 fps | Genre : Fantasy/Action | 700 MB Ethan Kendrick (Jason Behr) is a TV reporter called on to investigate an ancient legend about giant monsters destroying the planet. As Ethan delves into the case, he discovers that the story isn't just a legend — it's true! Giant dragons descend on modern-day Los Angeles to wreck havoc and while the military is no match for the mighty creatures, Ethan finds out that a young girl may hold the key to end the destruction. East meets West, and ancient myth meets modernity in this creature feature from Korean director Hyung Rae Shim (REPTILIAN). A TV news reporter (Jason Behr, SKINWALKERS), an antiques dealer (Robert Forster, FIREWALL), and a beautiful young woman (Amanda Brooks) all play a role in an old Korean legend coming to life. A giant snake is slithering its way through the streets of Los Angeles, and the trio must keep it from reuniting with an ancient spirit that will turn it into an evil, even more destructive dragon. DRAGON WARS is a throwback to classic monster movies, but this time around, there are much better special effects than audiences saw in those films from both Japan and the U.S. Though the film is from South Korea, director Shim has recruited faces that will be familiar to American audiences, from ROSWELL favorite Behr to Forster, who turned in a career-reviving performance in Quentin Tarantino’s JACKIE BROWN. But it’s THE OFFICE’s Craig Robinson who’s the most fun here as a womanizing photographer who teams up with Behr’s Ethan. DRAGON WARS is more of a guilty pleasure than fellow Korean import THE HOST, but it features an impressive amount of action and nods to monster movie favorites such as KING KONG and GODZILLA. |
