#20: Music » Music Video : STEVE VAI - The Jemini demo |

The multicolor die-cast zinc case of the new Steve Vai signature distortion pedal makes sure it will stand out on even the most crowded pedal board. with both TS9 Tubescreamer overdrive as well as the classic distortion tones long associated with Steve Vai. All sections and of this carefully Steve Vai-tweaked and modified. Wach him demonstrated use The Jemini. Very intere sting video! " You're stomping all over my brilliant idea, but that's OK, you're supposed to. The goal was to create a schizophrenic type distortion pedal that allows you to have two different settings with two different sounding distortion pedals, all wrapped up in a psycho-delic bullet proof package. Now you can get your dirty little groove on in public... legally. Stomp on!" — Steve Vai Steve Vai is an odd man. how many people come up with their own scale? So it's no surprise really when Steve decides to do a two person review of his new pedal with himself. Still, it's good to see he has a sense of humour, especially about himself. This new pedal of his distortion. You will find the demo's to be to round and muddy. Steve Vai has always been one of the biggest guitar heros and a constant inspiration so you always will interested when you see he has a new product out. Now the Ibanez Jemini has been out a while in fact it was announced at winter NAMM 2008, see the post here, but Mr Vai just posted a video up on his YouTube channel of erm, well Steve Vai and Steve Vai doing a demo of the 2 channel distortion pedal. Not only does it show the 2 different distortion channels it is also pretty entertaining to watch, Steve has a good sense of humour and abuses himself throughout which is funny. |

MP3 | 2 Discs (18 + 18) | Various Artists | 192 kbps | 168 MB The title doesn't lie, even if it does sounds like a hyperbolic pitch from an old late-night cable TV ad. With 36 tracks of various genres spread over two discs, Now That's What I Call Christmas might be the best, most eclectic "value-plus" holiday record ever released, assuming your tastes embrace crooners such as Cole, Crosby, and Como, plus contemporary boy bands such as Boyz II Men, as well as the ubiquitous Britney Spears. In between there are the sumptuous classics by Bobby Helms, Brenda Lee, the Beach Boys, Elvis, and Burl Ives on disc one, balanced on disc two by more recent standards, including Bruce Springsteen's live version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" and John and Yoko's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)." Track Listings:Disc: 11. The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole 2. Bing Crosby - White Christmas 3. Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley 4. Have Yourself A Merry Little Xmas - Frank Sinatra 5. #25: Music : Sarah McLachlan - Wintersong |
 |

|
| |
mp3 Format | 256 kbps | 83.5 MB Sarah McLachlan 3-time Grammy and 8-time Juno Award-winning multi-platinum McLachlan, who has sold over 30 million records around the world, usher in the spirit of the season with the release of her first holiday album, Winstersong recorded in her home studio in Vancouver, Sarah McLachlan presents these classic songs on Winstersong with a unique twist, making them her own and translating them into her repertoire. These recordings are not simply traditional holiday fare. Instead, Winstersong could be considered the soundtrack to a blustery winter day. The album opens with her version of John Lennon's timeless declaration of peace from 1971, "Happy Xmas (War is Over)." John and Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band originally recorded the song with the Harlem Community Choir, and Sarah is also joined by a choral group -- a children's choir of students from the music school she personally funds and oversees in her hometown of Vancouver. Another highlight of the new album is Sarah's version of "River" from Joni Mitchell's 1971 Blue album ("It's coming on Christmas, they're cutting down trees..."). The title track Wintersong was written by Sarah specifically for this album. On this recording, she also pays homage to Gordon Lightfoot with his 1975 "Song For A Winter's Night." From the American standard songbook, Sarah has chosen "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." The program is rounded out with the traditional "What Child Is This (Greensleeves)," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," "Silent Night," the classically flavored "In A Bleak Mid Winter," and a medley of "The First Noel/ Mary Mary." In addition, Wintersong features guest appearances from Diana Krall on piano on "Christmas Time Is Here" from the 1965 Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon and fellow Canadian Jim Creegan of Barenaked Ladies guests on double bass throughout the album. |

#27: E-Books : The Complete Arkangel Shakespeare: 38 Fully-Dramatized Plays |

AudioBook | PDF, MP3 (CBR 60 Kbps Mono) | 101h:36min | Publisher: Audio Partners; Unabridged Edition | ISBN: 1932219005 | March 2003 |2.7 GB “To Buy or Not to Buy! Educators, lovers of theatre and great literature – take note! Late in the 1990s, Harper Row began to release on cassettes the Arkangel Complete Shakespeare, all of which I reviewed in one paper or another. Using some of the best of the young theatrical talent in Great Britain and some of the older established stars of stage and screen, the producers gave us readings of every single word of every single play by Shakespeare, including the seldom-performed “Two Noble Kinsmen” which is partially by Shakespeare. Well, hold on! Audio Partners has been contracted to release the entire set on CDs. The trick is that you cannot purchase the individual sets but are required to purchase the entire package of 38 plays for $600. That is 98 CDs in all with a playing time of just over 101 hours! Libraries and school departments take note. Hearing them as they were released on tape in batches of four or five, I was impressed mostly with the enormity of the project but found some things to quibble about. Ca sting Oberon and Titania with a pair whose voices were South African or Jamaican (no Henry Higgins, I) made some sense in that it emphasized their other-worldly-ness. So did assigning Malvolio in “Twelfth Night” to an actor with a distinct Scottish accent, but giving Mercutio in “Romeo and Juliet” to the same actor was absurd. Then too there is that sudden sound effect of a train pulling out of a station in the middle of “All's Well That Ends Well”! Granted there was a production current then that did place the play in more modern times, but when one is hearing a recording with no clue as to setting, the result was jarring and should have been omitted. |
