WinFence can be used to graphically create detailed, full-color, cross-sections and fence diagrams quickly and easily. The program can be used to interpret and map soil and rock layers, contamination, fossils, minerals and hydrocarbons.
In version 2 there is the option to have the program automatically generate the cross-section. This is done using artificial intelligence (AI) built-into the program. When determining how to connect the strata between boreholes, wells, and intersecting cross-sections the program looks at the similarities in the lithologies, thicknesses, and occurrence of the strata. This methodology works well with most geologies; except, where the geology is very complicated or there are faults.

PASS performs power analysis and calculates sample sizes. Use it before you begin a study to calculate an appropriate sample size (it meets the requirements of government agencies that demand technical justification of the sample size you have used). Use it after a study to determine if your sample size was large enough. PASS lets you solve for power, sample size, effect size, and alpha level. It automatically displays charts and graphs along with numeric tables and text summaries in a portable format that is cut and paste compatible with all word processors so you can easily include the results in your proposal. PASS is a standalone system. Although it is integrated with NCSS, you do not have to own NCSS to run it. You can use it with any statistical software you want. PASS 2008 runs under Windows Vista, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98, and 95.

Strata Foto 3D 1.5 Strata Foto 3D is a powerful tool for creating professional quality 3D content from still images. A wide range of objects can be modeled including those with holes and 'difficult' organic shapes. Using a conventional camera, photos of your object on a printed mat are taken from a number of viewpoints in front of a plain backdrop. The shape of the object and its surface color are automatically extracted from each photo and this information is used to build a high quality 3D object.

The model can be sent to a 3D layer in Photoshop CS3 EX or imported into a 3D editing and rendering software such as Strata 3D CX. Finally, the model can be imported into Strata Live 3D for interactive 3D display within a website, flash file, or an Adobe Acrobat PDF document (without any plug-ins).
