#9: Music : Sammy Hagar - The Essential Red Collection |

This collection collects most of the best tracks from Hagar’s solo years, as well as the terrific “Bad Motor Scooter” from his 70s band Montrose. Hagar may be best remembered as a solo artist for the hell-bent-for-metal car cruncher “ I Can’t Drive 55.” This is a great mix of old Sammy and new Sammy!! A must have!! one album that you just can lay back and listen to The best thing about this release is the inclusion of the soundtrack songs that don't appear on his regular albums. The unreleased stuff is great to have too. There are 20 tracks on here and the CD times out at 78:59. It covers his solo years from 1974 to 1984, his 1987 solo album while he was a fairly new member of Van Halen and 3 songs off of his 1997 and 1999 solo albums. |

Starring: Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde The return of Zack Wilde brings an energy filled set, tight and virtuostic. The band sounds awesome, OZZY feeds from this and sounds the best he has in years. He jumps, runs, curses and works the crowd into a frezy only as OZZY can. Many of the songs have been made in 80's and some even in 70's but they sound now as fresh as they sound then. Ozzy seems to enjoy the live concerts very much. Also Zakk Wylde and others are really well present in this concert. The solos and the songs are great. Zakk was simply terrific here, nailing every single note with conviction and with great style too ! His huge beard did give me a shock at first, and along with those wrist brace, he really did look like a true metal warrior lol. His lead playing on stage has improved tremendously since the Loud and Live days as he seems to be more careful and attentive to hitting the right notes. And damn those pinch harmonics of his .. |

This group’s mix of Rush and Van Halen as well as the exotic flavour of the Japanese vocals were integral to the group’s massively loyal following but ultimately it was the guitar of Takasaki that blew away the masses. There are few bands that can claim to have opened up the minds and ears of an entire music scene to the existence and possibilities of its particular country. There are even fewer bands, which can boast a distinct style, a guitarist acknowledged as neck and fret beyond his peers and a career that has so far lasted 25 years. |

George Lynch was born in Spokane, Washington on September 28th 1954 and was raised in Sacramento, California, and is best known for being in the 80s hard rock band ‘’Dokken’’. He is a highly respected modern guitarist, compared to such players as Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen. He is well known for his stunning legato technique and the common use of the scale he calls the ‘’Gothic Octave’’. George auditioned to be Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist twice, once in 1979, losing to the late, great, Randy Rhodes (and another time in 1982 to replace Brad Gillis). According to George, he was hired for three days until Ozzy changed his mind and decided to go with Jake E. Lee. Lee, however claims that Lynch ‘Got the gig’, but only went on the road for two weeks to watch the show, and never actually played with Ozzy. This is my truely favorite Guitar Player, with this Video Guitar Tutorial you will find amazing technique from him! Check it out He came to fame with Dokken in the 80’s, whom which he had been a member of since the 70’s. Dokken had a string of successful gold albums and Lynch's lead work was highly acclaimed on all of them and cemented his place in the legion of guitar heroes. Despite being hugely successful, Lynch left Dokken in 1990 due to tension with lead vocalist Don Dokken. George went and formed his own band ‘’Lynch Mob’’ whose style was similar to Dokken’s, but were never as successful. |

The footage was filmed with 15 cameras over two nights in May 1992 and mixed together, with the bulk of the footage and music coming from the second night. The DVD is single-sided but dual-layer format, running approximately 120 minutes long. The only non-musical items are optional subtitles or closed captioning (DVD) plus a brief clip of each performer (not in concert) talking about music in general. 15 of the songs here were part of the 27 recordings from the live double-CD album with the addition of two songs which weren't on the audio album: The Dream Is Over and Eagles Fly. The 15 songs from both the film and album are generally the same, but there are notable differences, particularly Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing and his solo "316", in which he makes several mistakes. Track listing 1. "Poundcake" – 5:28 2. "Judgement Day" – 4:52 3. "Man on a Mission" – 4:49 4. "When It's Love" – 5:22 5. "In 'n' Out" – 6:20 6. "Right Now" – 6:13 7. "Ultra Bass" – 5:15 8. #22: Music : Led Zeppelin II (TAB GUITARS INCLUDED) |
 |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 28 December 2008 | Views: 1117 |
|
|
| |
Led Zeppelin II is the second album released by Led Zeppelin in 1969. Here they further developed ideas established on their debut album, creating a work which became even more widely acclaimed and arguably more influential. The finished tracks reflect the raw, evolving sound of the band and their innovations as live performers. It has been suggested that Led Zeppelin II largely writes the blueprint for 1970s hard rock. Blues-derived songs like " Whole Lotta Love", " Heartbreaker", " The Lemon Song" and " Bring It On Home" are now standards of the genre, where the guitar-based riff (rather than vocal chorus or verses) defines the song and provides the key hook. Such arrangements and emphasis were at the time atypical in popular music. As such, the album is generally considered to be very influential on the development of rock music, being an early forerunner of heavy metal, and inspiring a host of other rock bands including Van Halen and Guns N' Roses. Led Zeppelin II also experimented with other musical styles and approaches, as on the alternately soft-and-loud " What Is and What Should Never Be" and " Ramble On" (which featured Page's acoustic guitar), or the pop-influenced ballad " Thank You". With its mysterious atmospherics, "Ramble On" helped develop hard rock's association with fantasy themes, which had partly derived from the psychedelic rock of two to three years before, but also from lyricist Robert Plant's personal interest in the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien. This direction would later culminate on Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album (and countless subsequent groups would later carry the influence to further extremes). Conversely, the instrumental "Moby Dick" features an extended drum solo by John Bonham, which would later be extended to a half-hour or more in live Led Zeppelin concert performances. |

This is Yngwie's best album and it features his best vocalist ever Joe Lynn Turner. Yngwie combines Neo Classical Metal, Hair Metal and Power Metal to make his best album ever! The collaboration of Joe Lynn Turner and Yngwie Malmsteen make this album a classic in my book. The songs are perfectly crafted, which says a lot for an artist who is known as a guitar virtuoso, but a mediocre songwriter. In fact, this is the only album by Yngwie Malmsteen where the songs are equal in appeal to his guitar mastery. Every song on Odyssey is a masterpiece. Even the slow, thoughtful songs still sound "heavy" enough, but the music is emotionally moving at the same time. And Joe Lynn Turner is at his best on this album, hook-laden melodic rock tunes that need to be heard TAB GUITARS INCLUDED! |

MP3 | 09 Tracks | 128 KBPS | Genre: Hard Rock | 31 MB 1984 was a successful record not only because it contained solid, catchy hard rock, but also because it incorporated synthesizers into the mix, the first metal album to do so to any serious extent. Although the ad vances in electronic music make this material sound dated now, it's still a highlight of Van Halen's career. Songs like "Jump" contain a pop element that gave 1984 mainstream appeal, and David Lee Roth turned the frontman role into an art form on songs such as "Panama," "Hot for Teacher," "Drop Dead Legs," and "I'll Wait." To a large extent, it was 1984 that set the standard for '80s pop metal, and David Lee Roth who set the standard (or takes the blame, depending on your point of view) for the aggressively good-time attitude most pop-metal bands took for their own. This is a great expo of Steve Vai and his incredible talent. You will watched this Video over and over and you will love it. His playing in incredible. His stage antics are fun, entertaining and moving. It truly shows off Steve Vai's talent and personality. Steve Vai, he's not only an incredible guitarist but simply radiates life and music. If you are a pop music fan that does not consider a piece of music to be real music if there is no lead singer...skip this. If you believe there is never any reason to become a vituoso guitar player...or if you think playing the same 3 cords over and over while repeating the same tired blues licks makes you a virtuoso...skip this. If you think a guitarist like Clapton standing in one spot for an entire show is the way to go...SKIP THIS. This Video is for guitar players. If you need inspiration...if you need to know what the guitar is capable of.. .the Video is for you. If you like showmanship in a live performance..THIS IS FOR YOU. Vai is one-of-a-kind. Most can't say that. He moves, he grooves...and he still plays things that mortals cannot play. Excellent video of an excellent band, starring the incredible Steve Vai. You can learn a lot from watching carefully! Maybe guitar heros in the music world are no longer important recently. When Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen played, automatically generations wanted to play. No players have come across since then with such apogee and influenced as many. But Steve Vai actually makes the guitar an anttractive instrument to listen to. |

This album was the last one that David Lee Roth recorded with Van Halen and he definitely left on a high note. This is a very fun album. This song seems to have set the tone for a lot of bands in the years following. Eddie Van Halen, well-known for his guitar prowess but also a classically-trained pianist, used 1984 as an opportunity to take the band into different territory. Eddie Van Halen's keyboard playing is more prominent on 1984 than on any prior Van Halen album, Additionally, 1984 was the first Van Halen album to be recorded at Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150. The studio lent its name to Van Halen's next album, the first with former Montrose vocalist/guitarist and solo artist Sammy Hagar. |

This is is the seventh album and the first Van Halen record with sammy on vocals, released in 1986. And this is their biggest selling album with sammy as the singer. It went 6 times platnium. And so, the Sammy Hagar years begun also he really steped up and belts out some great vocals. With the oberheim keyboard classic sound. The guitar riffs are great and it feels like a party. The guys sound like they're having fun. Includes classics like "Dreams", and "Summer Nights". The songs from this album have energy and the sound is timeless. "Dreams" is more commercial with a synth driven opening and a hook that is very memorable and could be enjoyed by both pop and rock fans. "Love Walks In" a power ballad is among the slowest songs. "Best of Both World's" is the complete opposite, a ragy classic rock anthem and ditto with the title track and "Summer Nights" where Eddie Van Halen proves why he's considered among the world's greatest guitarists. "Good Enough" and "Get Up" are standards in fast pace, good party songs! Brings back a lot of good memories...There is something for everyone here, rock standards, rock ballads and some quite commercial synth laden rock-pop songs. The album was named after Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150, which is a California police term for a mentally disturbed person (a reference to Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code). The 5150 name has been used several times by Van Halen. It is the name of Eddie Van Halen's private studio, the name of a custom Frankenstein striped Kramer Pacer Special used by Eddie Van Halen throughout the 80s, and it is the model name of a signature guitar amplifier endorsed by Eddie for Peavey Electronics. |

An amazing work by an amazing musician. A lot of people pigeonhole Steve Vai into being just another guitarist, a relic of the shred-happy '80s. But take another listen. Forget his stints in Alcatrazz and Whitesnake, forget that ridiculous triple-necked heart guitar that backed David Lee Roth, and listen to Vai's own music, made on his own terms. Yes, he is an incredibly talented guitarist, but he's also much more, a true modern-day composer. No matter how off-the-wall his songs seem, there's an amazing musical quality and deep spirituality that underscores every note in his truly amazing body of work. The first phase is pure magic, especially the Fire Garden Suite. His lyrics are a little corny in some of the tracks in phase 2, but his voice, while not the most beautiful in the world, fits every song perfectly. In closing, this is an amazing album in both its scope and its execution, giving the listener a glimpse at the many sides of Steve Vai, the man. This is a wonderful album. So much melody, so many twists and turns, so much fun. A definite must-have; This album recommended highly enough |

Steve Vai’s technical mastery of the guitar is such that, like a gunslinger of old, he used to challenge the audience at Frank Zappa gigs to bring along music scores for him to sight read live on stage. Naturally enough Vai’s reputation spread and his solos soon became one of the benchmarks that aspiring guitarists measure themselves against. A brief spell in 1985 with Alcatrazz (replacing Yngwie Malmsteen), followed by a couple of years with David Lee Roth, who had by that time split, very publicly, from Eddie Van Halen. His iconic status also led to a collaboration with Ibanez with whom has designed several signature guitars. Steve Vai's guitar work on that album is really amazing, and for the most part totally unconventional. What a monster. What’s What With … Steve Vai You may not know the name Steve Vai. But unless you think that heavy metal is just the stuff you don’t want in your drinking water, you’ve undoubtedly heard his screamingly fast guitar work, since he’s played with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, Frank Zappa, and Whitesnake. Since leaving that world of overindulgence in the ’80s, Vai has maintained a successful solo career with more than a dozen albums; he appears tonight at the Keswick and on Saturday at the Borgata. I caught up with this six-string soldier before sound check. — Victor Fiorillo |
