#3: All In One, Internet : Skype 4.1.0.136 |

After Skype's previous offering took it a step back on the feature set, it's a relief to see version 4.1 reinstate some of those missing baubles--like accessibility provisions, birthday alerts, and the ability to send a contact to other Skype users. Version 4.0 saw Skype reworked, stripped down to its core competency (and most formidable challenge) of delivering high-quality audio and video calls over the Internet. The improved sound and video quality, were notable in our tests, the result of Skype 4.0's sound engine and bandwidth manager. Public chats have also been temporarily omitted in version 4.x, IM still isn't terribly interactive, and the Skypecast partyline thro wback has gotten the kibosh. Those chafing against the larger block of interface that consolidates the classic two-pane look into a single window can also split them in two. But the real news in this minor version is a major feature: screen sharing. Screen sharing initiates a video call, using that technology to broadcast a recording of your screen--either a portion or the full screen--to one other viewer. Screen sharing has some limitations: you can't simultaneously see a video of your buddy and their desktop, and since only one viewer at a time can peep your screen, you can't use it as a free replacement for collaborative Web conferencing. It doesn't help that the picture quality is still choppy and fuzzy, in both partial-screen and full-screen view modes. Make no mistake, though: it's a great feature that we're happy to see added, but we'll be even happier to watch it improve. |

#4: Developer Tools : Windows Post Install Wizard Classic 1.6.0 |

WPI Classic is targeted towards legacy operating systems such as Windows 98 and ME. (It still works on the new OS's too!) Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI for short) is a hypertext application designed for giving users choice. While Windows XP offers many ways of customizing the setup process out of the box, its major dra wback is the lack of being able to select which applications an end user may install. In the past, end users and administrators needed to either download the files manually, or create overly complex scripts that could only be used once. WPI allows you to create one image, which can then be custom configured, and optionally, automated, so that end users can install any applications. WPI is a simple to use automation program for the choice and installation of multiple programs, tweaks and scripts. No longer will you need a dozen CD's or more when doing a fresh Installation. No longer will you need multiple files when you are servicing another PC. With Windows Post-Install Wizard all that you will need is 1 or 2 CD\DVD's to fully install your PC with all of your apps, scripts, registry files or tweaks. Instead of having to re-download those apps like adobe reader, flash or updates to programs you can have them all on one disk. With WPI you can have all of them all on one disk and then have a nice interface for selecting which apps to install and after configured properly WPI will install all of them without any needed input from you. WPI also and is commonly used added to your windows installation disks. This way you can automate the complete process of Windows and program installations. |

Glass for Vista Update (NEW - WindowBlinds Skin) INSTRUCTIONS (also can be found in the readme)Make sure you have a ACTIVATED version of WindowBlinds 6.1 or newer which supports explorer backgrounds. How to install properly:1. COPY the "Glass for Vista" folder (the one with a bunch of images) to: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\ Open WindowBlinds Configuration and select Rebuild list from Skin options. (SkinStudio 6.3 has some sort of bug which doesn't allow to make wba packages) 2. In WindowBlinds configuration go to settings and advanced user settings - check the "I want to use Aero Window Frames but keep the rest of the skin" option. 3. Go to Look&Feel > Explorer Backgrounds, select from the backgrounds list a background called "Ice 1" or any other but NOT Skin Default. 4. Drag all sliders to the very left, especially opacacity. |
