#15: Music : Led Zeppelin II (TAB GUITARS INCLUDED) |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 28 December 2008 | Views: 1118 |

| |
Led Zeppelin II is the second album released by Led Zeppelin in 1969. Here they further developed ideas established on their debut album, creating a work which became even more widely acclaimed and arguably more influential. The finished tracks reflect the raw, evolving sound of the band and their innovations as live performers. It has been suggested that Led Zeppelin II largely writes the blueprint for 1970s hard rock. Blues-derived songs like " Whole Lotta Love", " Heartbreaker", " The Lemon Song" and " Bring It On Home" are now standards of the genre, where the guitar-based riff (rather than vocal chorus or verses) defines the song and provides the key hook. Such arrangements and emphasis were at the time atypical in popular music. As such, the album is generally considered to be very influential on the development of rock music, being an early forerunner of heavy metal, and inspiring a host of other rock bands including Van Halen and Guns N' Roses. Led Zeppelin II also experimented with other musical styles and approaches, as on the alternately soft-and-loud " What Is and What Should Never Be" and " Ramble On" (which featured Page's acoustic guitar), or the pop-influenced ballad " Thank You". With its mysterious atmospherics, "Ramble On" helped develop hard rock's association with fantasy themes, which had partly derived from the psychedelic rock of two to three years before, but also from lyricist Robert Plant's personal interest in the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien. This direction would later culminate on Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album (and countless subsequent groups would later carry the influence to further extremes). Conversely, the instrumental "Moby Dick" features an extended drum solo by John Bonham, which would later be extended to a half-hour or more in live Led Zeppelin concert performances. |

#17: Music : DEEP PURPLE - Perfect Strangers (Remastered, MP3+TAB GUITARS) |

This album is a landmark for Deep Purple, and is aptly titled--the band was reunited only by pressure from their public, making them no longer musical mates, but "Perfect Strangers." Not withstanding, the group were not strangers at all when it came to their common goal of making music. The sound of the musicianship on this album could not be immitated; every songs on this comeback album is too good.. Blackmore's trademark guitar is facinating, Glover's bass reaches brilliant madness, Gillan's barbed wire voice soars, as Jon Lord's organ is a highlight as usual, and drummer Ian Paice remains out of his head. A good rock album from the fathers of Rock ! The duelling soloes between Jon and Ritchie is way beyound great, and Roger's and little Ian's bass and drums keeps this train on the tracks. Big Ian's vocals are amazing, and this album proves that he is one of the greatest rocksingers of all time. And for being close to 25 years old, it still sounds great. A good music to introduce younger listeners to these guys...it's old, but not that old. Overall, the remastered PERFECT STRANGERS is one hard rock that you don't want to miss. |

The album was initially recorded at Island Records's newly opened Basing Street Studios, London at the same time as Jethro Tull's Aqualung, before further recordings took place at Headley Grange, a remote Victorian house in East Hampshire, England, as well as Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, CA. After the lukewarm, if not confused and sometimes dismissive, critical reaction Led Zeppelin III had received in the autumn of 1970, Jimmy Page decided that the next Led Zeppelin album would not have a title, but would instead feature four hand-drawn symbols on the inner sleeve and record label, each one chosen by the band member it represents. "We decided that on the fourth album, we would deliberately play down the group name, and there wouldn't be any information whatsoever on the outer jacket", Page explained. "Names, titles and things like that do not mean a thing." In 1998, Q magazine readers voted Led Zeppelin IV the 26th greatest album of all time; in 2000 "Q" placed it at #26 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. In 2003, the album was ranked number 66 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It is #7 on Pitchfork Media's Top 100 Albums of the 1970s. A 2005 listener poll conducted by Toronto, Ontario classic rock station Q107 named Led Zeppelin IV the #2 best classic rock album of all time. In 2006, the album was rated #1 on Classic Rock magazine's 100 Greatest British Albums poll; that same year it was voted #1 in Guitar World 100 Greatest Albums readers' poll and was ranked #7 in ABC media's top ten albums. |

Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in 1968 by Jimmy Page (guitar), Robert Plant (vocals), John Paul Jones (bass guitar, keyboards) and John Bonham (drums). With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, Led Zeppelin are regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands. Almost 30 years after disbanding following Bonham's death in 1980, the band continue to be held in high regard for their artistic achievements, commercial success and broad influence. The band have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. Including 111.5 million sales in the United States. For the composition of their third album, Led Zeppelin III, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant retired to Bron-Yr-Aur, a remote cottage in Wales, in 1970. The result was a more acoustic sound (and a song, "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp", misspelt as "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" on the album cover), which was strongly influenced by folk and Celtic music, and revealed the band's versatility. Led Zeppelin III is the third album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was recorded between January and July 1970 and was released on October 5, 1970 by Atlantic Records. |

#21: Music : Pink Floyd - Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd (2001) |

| |
MP3 | 2 Discs (13+13) | 128 KBPS | Covers Included | Genre: Progressive Rock | 141 MB Echoes is a double-CD collection of some of Pink Floyd's best songs. It's also a fascinating document of the band's history. They began life as Syd Barrett's phantasmagoric plaything before clasping the wings of Icarus and ascending toward the sun on an epic space-rock odyssey, eventually turning left once they reached the dark side of the moon and burning up on reentry, crash-landing on every earthlings' home hi-fi. And it's all here--30 years of the Floyd's awesome back catalog trimmed down to two handsome CDs. It's worth remembering that, despite a fondness for pyrotechnics, Pink Floyd were never a prog-rock band. Sure, some of their songs are a bit long, and they never released singles (at least not for 11 years), but the same could be said for Led Zeppelin. Clinically devoid of the faux-classical overtures and vainglorious musicianship of that era, Pink Floyd were a pole apart; Meddle's epic maritime tone poem "Echoes" remains the Floyd's apogee. But here, on this collection, "the albatross" which "hangs motionless upon the air" has had its wings clipped--seven full minutes are missing, but you'd never be able to tell. The sonar bleeps, the screeching seagulls, the howling winds are all retained, and whoever wielded the editorial axe, Eugene, did so carefully. |

#24: Music : Pride and Glory - ZAKK WYLDE |
| |
| The Author: ompeompe | 14 July 2008 | Views: 2104 |
| |
Pride and Glory was Zakk Wylde's first self-fronted album. It has more of a Southern rock sound than Zakk Wylde's other albums incorporating the likes of banjo, harmonica and mandolin. Upon its release, their one and only album was seen as an almost complete departure from the music Zakk was known for with Ozzy, but the album's dominant Southern Rock sound proved to remain a prevailant influence on Zakk's own music up to and including the debut Black Label Society album Sonic Brew. Zakk's songwriting skills come to the forefront on the album; there is a great deal of variety and the songs themselves are very dynamic, with a very loose jam-band feel to a number them, namely "Shine On" and "Toe'n The Line." The original album was released in 1994 and reissued in 1999 on Spitfire Records with a bonus songs of rare and unreleased material (tracks "The Wizard","Torn and Tattered" "In My Time of Dying","Found A Friend" ,"The Hammer and The Nail" ,"Come Together") |

#25: Music : Led Zeppelin - Complete Studio Recordings (10 CDs) |

| The Author: CaseMan | 11 June 2008 | Views: 2895 |
| |
mp3 Format | 192 kbps | 590 MB As Basil Bunting wrote about Ezra Pound's Cantos, "There are the Alps... you will have to go a long way round if you want to avoid them." Led Zeppelin's work is the central fact of 1970s rock & roll; in it's loving homage to and shameless piracy from the blues, its glorious and wretched excess, its transformation of hippie and folk-rock graces into a foundation-shaking kaboom, and its offhanded myth-making, the band turned everything caught in it's wake into a reaction to it--or against it. The three non-album tracks the box includes are grace notes rather than lost jewels, but the point of the set is to be a Rosetta stone of album rock, the stairway to a gaudy paradise that they constructed. |
