it says the virus signature is 3553 (20081024) and it's not updating saying this is up to date but on the eset site the latest virus signature is 3752 (20090108). why is not pickig up these new updates?

No worries. Please do not try updating it by repeatedly clicking on update button at one time. It will autoupdate, whenever the server is free. or else try later after some time. It updates well. But most importantly keep it at autoupdate mode
