The follow up to 2006's San Angelo, Watson's eighth album contains 15 songs ranging from an obscure Waylon Jennings cover "Tulsa" to Aaron's version of John Mayer's Heart of Life ; and is rounded out by 13 Watson-penned tunes. Watson has written something for everyone, incorporating traditional elements of fiddle and steel guitar while keeping the music current. Included on Angels & Outlaws are such standout songs as the rowdy sing-along "That's What I Like About A Country Song" featuring guest performances by Jack Ingram, Kevin Fowler, Roger Creager and Ray Benson, along with the lead single Hearts Are Breaking Across Texas , and the soon-to-be favorite, Love Makin' Song. All in all this a great country album that fans of mainstream and traditional country, young and old can enjoy. ![]() mp3 Format | 192 kbps | 50 MB Aaron Watson looks too young and cheerful to know much about the honky tonk life, but one spin of San Angelo proves appearances can be deceiving. Watson manages to find a comfortable middle ground between the radio-friendly polish of new country and the tougher sounds that continue to find favor in his home state of Texas, and while the party anthem "Heyday Tonight" may open the album, it's harder-edged tunes about love and heartbreak like "Blame It on Me," "Haunted House," and the title cut that put the meat on this disc's bones. Watson wrote the bulk of the album's 13 songs, with the other selections culled from the songbooks of Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Jim Lauderdale, and Bruce Robison, and the fact that Watson's songs don't sound woefully inadequate in comparison says a lot about his talent -- maybe "All American Country Girl" and "Good Thing Going" are a bit lightweight, but "Except for Jessie" is a moving tribute to Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, and "Haunted House" is a fine and evocative portrait of a love gone sour. Ray Benson's production is clean but straightforward, and the pickers deliver the goods with class to spare. San Angelo isn't always up to the level of Aaron Watson's influences, but it's modern country music with the heart and soul of classic Lone Star sounds, and it's the work of a young man with plenty of potential. --Mark Deming, All Music Guide ![]() .ttf Format | 7,550 Fonts | 225 MB My collection of fonts that begin with the letter C. ![]() mp3 Format | 224-320 kbps | 126 MB The Pussycat Dolls are back with their highly anticipated album, DOLL DOMINATION! Takin' Over The World ![]() mp3 Format | 256 kbps | 83.5 MB Sarah McLachlan 3-time Grammy and 8-time Juno Award-winning multi-platinum McLachlan, who has sold over 30 million records around the world, usher in the spirit of the season with the release of her first holiday album, Winstersong recorded in her home studio in Vancouver, Sarah McLachlan presents these classic songs on Winstersong with a unique twist, making them her own and translating them into her repertoire. These recordings are not simply traditional holiday fare. Instead, Winstersong could be considered the soundtrack to a blustery winter day. The album opens with her version of John Lennon's timeless declaration of peace from 1971, "Happy Xmas (War is Over)." John and Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band originally recorded the song with the Harlem Community Choir, and Sarah is also joined by a choral group -- a children's choir of students from the music school she personally funds and oversees in her hometown of Vancouver. Another highlight of the new album is Sarah's version of "River" from Joni Mitchell's 1971 Blue album ("It's coming on Christmas, they're cutting down trees..."). The title track Wintersong was written by Sarah specifically for this album. On this recording, she also pays homage to Gordon Lightfoot with his 1975 "Song For A Winter's Night." From the American standard songbook, Sarah has chosen "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." The program is rounded out with the traditional "What Child Is This (Greensleeves)," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," "Silent Night," the classically flavored "In A Bleak Mid Winter," and a medley of "The First Noel/ Mary Mary." In addition, Wintersong features guest appearances from Diana Krall on piano on "Christmas Time Is Here" from the 1965 Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon and fellow Canadian Jim Creegan of Barenaked Ladies guests on double bass throughout the album. ![]() mp3 Format | 256 kbps | 72 MB This album put Sarah McLachlan in the music spotlight that she definitely deserves. I bought this album because I liked her previous one, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, so much. Surfacing shows her continuing growth as a song writer and performer. Simply put, she is one of the best female artists making music these days. Most people will be familiar with the singles "Building a Mystery" and "Angel", both which are strong tracks. But, probably the most impressive songs on the album are "Sweet Surrender", "Adia", and "Witness". Overall, the sound quality of this CD is excellent. I like to listen to this album with headphones to get the full impact of the songs. I highly recommend this album to any Sarah Mclachlan fan, if you do not already own it. If you are unfamiliar with her work, I would use this CD as a great starting point. ![]() mp3 Format | 192 kbps | 68 MB Solace, Nova Scotian Sarah McLachlan's second album, is considerably more mature and musically sophisticated than her 1988 debut, the promising if limited Touch. In fact, this disc is a must-have for McLachlan fans whose first encounter with her work was with her extremely popular later releases, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy and Surfacing. The opening track, "Drawn to the Rhythm," is a habit-forming gem of a song that soars on her smooth and heady soprano and Ronald Jones's addictive drums (though the drone of the billatron in the chorus seems incongruous). The rumbling, electric "Into the Fire" grooves with a funky bass line; the lovelorn "Path of Thorns" and "I Will Not Forget You" are straight-ahead and bluesy. Always wise beyond her years, McLachlan displays a new awakening with introspective songs such as the Sinead O'Connor-esque "Lost" and "Shelter." The hymnlike "Mercy" is the least interesting song--spare in comparison to the others--but it is a wondrous showcase of her multifaceted voice. Without a doubt, Solace is a testament to McLachlan's ever-swelling talent. --Rebecca Robinson ![]() mp3 Format | 192-320 kbps | 62.3 MB This recording, originally released in 1989 when she was only 20 years old, was an impressive debut for Sarah McLachlan. As an initial step towards her classic efforts that were to follow (Surfacing, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy), this collection possesses insights from personal and introspective viewpoints. Crystal clear vocals and intimate guitar accompany her often-Celtic inspired youthful romanticism. As a contemporary folkie her whimsy and ethereal approach to lyrics touched a new generation trying to find their place in the world. This and the albums that followed paved the way for women singer/songwriters. An absolute must for any fan of Sarah McLachlan! TRACK LISTING: 01 Out Of The Shadows 02 Vox 03 Strange World 04 Trust 05 Touch ![]() mp3 Format | 224 kbps | 91.3 MB Every few months or so, I come across an artist or band that I previously would not have taken much interest in because their music genre didn't fit what I see as my preference. Usually, the artist blows me away and becomes an obsession of which a race swiftly brews where I must buy nearly every album they've released. Examples from the past few years are Alanis Morissette, Bjork, Sheryl Crow and Lauryn Hill. And then there's Sarah McLachlan, my latest discovery. Being an avid Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, I always knew who Sarah was, but couldn't really put a face to the voice. I'd heard her songs, but never thought about exploring her music. For some unknown reason, I went ahead and bought two of her albums on the same day. These were "Solace" and "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy." The former has received few spins on my CD player, but only because the latter has been hogging all the time... Let me just say that once I heard this album, I was completely sold. Sarah's angelic vocals warmed me from the inside and enveloped me in a trance, and in that moment I knew I had to own her entire back catalogue. Released in 1994, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was the third studio album from Sarah after her debut "Touch" and the sophomore set Solace. Sarah was still a fairly unknown with the release of this third album, but since its 1994 release it has gone on to become a masterpiece of the decade and touched millions with its beautiful lyrics, gorgeous vocals and soothing harmonies. --The Nocturnal Aerial |
